Car stereo question for your experts

If your headunit has multiple pre-outs (3 to be exact) and your amp has (2) sets of line-ins and (1) set of line-outs, do you need to have both sets of line-ins on your amp connected to your headunit via the pre-outs?

Is this necessary, or just overkill? I know the line-out on the amp will go to another amp, the question really is how many line-ins on your amp must be connected?

Thanks

-Chris

IIRC the differnt preouts are for seperate amps/processors... so it would be over kill... the output on the amp is for "daisy chaining" amps and processors.

The different pre-outs on the radio are for more then one amp (like one amp for your fronts, one amp for your rears, and one for the sub).

understood, but why would the amp have two sets of line-ins, if it already has another set of 'outs' for daisy-chaining?

I haven't seen an amp with 2 sets of RCA ins? Are they label with anything other than line in? What amp is it? The head unit should be 3 sets, I one is for Front, one for Rear, and then one is for Sub...I can't see any reason you'd need to run more than 1 set or RCA cables...

Ok, I think i see whats going on...use the Ch3 and CH4 RCA ins, looks like that set is setup for a sub where CH1 and CH2 would be used for like rear deck speakers...make sure you use the sub out on your head unit...

Send a message via AIM to LiquidFire
its a 4 channel amp meaning that to use all 4 channels you would need 2 left and 2 right inputs, hence the 2 sets of rca in's
like loserkid said ch1/2 would be for speakers since the crossover is only highpass and ch 3/4 is for the sub since the crossover is only lowpass
just make sure that when you connect the sub you use the ch 3/4 speaker outputs
