I've dealt with alot of pilots and navs in the Chair Force. Many are very cocky like Top Gun portrays them. Usually the young butter bars are the biggest d1cks and the older pilots are cool.
I'll tell you one thing, military pilots get alot of female a$$(Navy guys usually go for the man a$$ anyways) because of that movie.

Wanna hear something sad. The F-14 is being phased out and will be gone from active duty by the end of the year. Its being replaced by the F-18 Super Hornet. Just remember guys "There's two O's in Goose."

why in the hell would you base a movie about flying from the navy's perspective?? choose the branch that does it for a living and has more planes

I'll agree with chair-force a bit there, I'm commisioning next yr, and all the future pilots I've seen about to get there butter bars can be over-confident, some have come back and told about there reality check. I'll just fly the newest desk though

Yeah, they are phasing out alot of planes. The F-18E & F will be taking over for alo of the roles and the F-22 raptor will be taking most pf the other roles. They are also introducing the f-35 joint strike fighter wich will be used by all military branches and will replace most of the other planes. I dont think it will happen that quickly though. I mean just look at the a-10, that was supposed to be mothballed pre the first iraq war and its still going strong.

If Willow Grove is BRAC'ed most of our A-10's will be mothballed.
Maybe you guys can buy one at a goverment auction. They cost $8.8 million new so it would go for something like $4 million used, according to kelly blue book. chump change!
