dynoed the Vr-4 today, pics and video inside.

*all runs where on pump gas and methanol injection*

anyways went to philly dyno works today, very nice guys. dynoed the Vr-4.

1st 2 runs made 353AWHP with 340 torque at 15psi was hitting 10.3AFRS.

subtracted 5% on the safc after 4000 rpms gave the good ol hallman 1 crank. dynoed next run thew down 420AWHP/390TQ with ~11.8AFR. only took the car out to 6,500 on all the runs. i know my fuel system is mad maxed out, at 15psi my IDCs are at 108 at 17 i must have been close to 120 which means insane timing pull since my ITC is still zeroed out. car will easily clear 500 on 20psi, just need bigger injectors and more methanol.

but this in the gallery so i have to provide pics and such.

well here ya go.

and here are the 2 videos from the runs. oh yea i dono y but sound is off, but u get the idea.

353HP at 15psi

419HP at 17psi

oh yea completely untuned, i know i have a ton off boost leaks in the IC pipes for the turbos cause i welded them with a cheap mig welder and i just know their are leaks cause of the way the welds llook like. havent checked for boost leaks yet tho, just wanted to get a nice base run.

Nice numbers! They are a great bunch of guys over there.

Your AFR's don't look that bad, but your IDC's are out of control! LoL... There aren't any spikes in it and I know there sniffer reads a little high.

What are the SAE rated numbers?

My buddy drives a green VR4 in the Mount Holly and Pemberton area. He has exhaust and tinted windows. His car is pretty sick man..He posted up over 400 hundred on 93 octane and a daily driver tune, and over 500 with his race tune..Not boostin right now though, has a rattle noise that he's gettin checked out..

Anywayz..Nice numbers, them VR's can be beastly. Have a habit of being costly with repairs though

There's also the black sheep of every model. His motor is fully built with upgraded pistons and all, upgraded all the motor and tranny mounts, upgraded clutch, and I think he maybe still running the stock turbos though. Not sure of all the mods, but his car is pretty mean. Them VR's can be no joke, and this coming from a Diehard GM fan. lol

He was dealing with a shop up in NY that seemed to be having some personal issue also, I think that may have been some of the trouble right there. He doesn't have the tools nor the space to do the work himself and he has had alot of trouble finding a reliable local shop to help out soo..

wow you pulled fuel everywhere? the whole 'pulled 5%' seems really broad and scary, especially to go from 10.3 to 11.8 just like that.
but then again you dont really know how your tune is if your injectors are maxed out already, its going to be running a lot leaner no matter what.
water/meth injection is great, but i'm not sure if that alone will pull your IDCs into the safe zone, sounds like you're going to need some larger injectors as well to do it right.
keep us updated, sounds like a really serious automobile.

You do know that blackvr4 doesn't have space either, no garage. And tool wise, all you really need is a set of basic tools (socket wrenches, open-ended, screwdrivers, pliers). Spend under $100 and your set for life for basic auto repair.

well i had my car on the logger not too long ago at 15psi and it has 0 knock not even 1 count. its cause with my old set up it was tuned for over 21psi. and i hit the AFR pretty dead on with just "guessing" but yea hte larger injectors have been a must for awhile now. high IDCs really dont do **** unless ur knocking severely. the only real problem wiht high IDCs is it retards timing trying to supress knock even if u have alky flying into the motor, the car really doesnt know that. but wiht pulled back timing u loose power. i basically i felt like the car would have been ok, i just wish i had my data logger with me to completely verify that.

next plan for the car is just to leave it how it is and dont mess with it too much, so i can attend East Coast Gathering for 3/S's, before i break my car. then ill get 680s try to see if i can run 20psi and then bigger methanol pump, and possibly another walbro fuel pump depending on if the car will run the other walbro 255 dry. im looking to either be over 500HP before some or the car will be blown up.

oh yea, still pimpin the original 190K motor. ;)

I know what vr-4 1gmfanatik is talkin about, and its makes a ton of power, but idk exact numbers. Theres a kid with a stealth R/T around here, single turbo conversion, hes definitly up near 400, if not more. He wrecked his VR-4, and swapped the parts over, its one badass car.

sparknotes: Vr-4's are badass, congrats

Thanks for the support. Yeah, I'm unsure of exactly what his mods are, but I know he's got a good amount done. Both turbos have been worked on if not replaced. I know of that Stealth also. Yeah, that things pretty beastly too. I messed with him with my Cobalt SS/SC one evening for a short spurt. Roads were wet so we didn't play too much, but he crept away from me. That was also before some of my recent mods. Muahahaha!

Also agree that them VR's are in a class of they're own, especially once you get some good mods goin to compensate for all that weight.

Man. I miss my vr-4. I had a zurich white with a blitz lip. Dynoed 332 with just a walbro, stillen dp's, borla exhaust and one gutted kitty. Sold it to some kid in Jersey and he wrapped it on a pole a month later.
