NYC gets first all lithium taxi!!

I know this belongs in the general automotive chat forum but I wanted to get this out to the most people possible and off topic by far gets the most views. I think this is great news. If more cab companies and cities adopted this technology it would help stop co2 emissions, help reduce our oil dependance and also supply new funds to help further research of this technology. Write your city officials and ask, no demand, they look into these types of vehicles.

New York, New York - March 4, 2007 - Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (NASD OTCBB: HYBT - News) www.hybridtechnologies.com, emerging leaders in the development and marketing of lithium powered products worldwide are pleased to announce that the world’s first all lithium yellow cab is in full service in New York City.

With over 12,000 medallion taxi cabs in New York, Hybrid Technologies chose New York as its’ inaugural location for a new type of all lithium vehicle. The long range, highway speed lithium full-sized passenger vehicle has won over the toughest of critics including the general public. With requests from City Hall for more taxis, as well as a significant interest from medallion owners looking to benefit from reduced medallion fees, federal / state emissions initiatives and grants.

Hybrid placed the vehicle into service following unanimous approval from the City of New York Taxi and Limousine Commission under article 14. The taxi has already received acclaim from media, the public and President George W. Bush during the first days of its operation. Hybrid will be working with national media to present to the American public and an international audience, the lithium taxi initiative, the growing concern over oil dependency, rising fuel costs and environmental implications have reached a fever pitch throughout the public and private sector.

Hybrid Technologies is fully prepared and capable of retrofitting most of the fleet of taxis in New York. The process will begin by working with local and state government to bring further incentives to the fleet owners and owner operators within the city of New York.

Approval to build up to 200 lithium powered long range taxis for fleet placement in New York City, these units are scheduled to be sold to a medallion owner with the intention of creating a full fleet with the city of New York to service its growing demand for a sustainable zero emission public and private transport system.

Hybrid President Holly Roseberry stated "The introduction of our all lithium taxi into service in New York City is a major step forward and a victory for the automotive industry, the city of New York and its’ residents and for the American public in general. We are showing that not only is a solution possible, it is a reality and as the taxis serve New York it will serve as a testimony of American innovation and willingness to accept this technology.”
