Making real power w/ my Civic - Nitrous, Turbo, or Swap?

OK, the civic is sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow beyong all understanding...mid 16 to 17 second slow, and its quite the pain. Anyway, I just got more hours at work, and looks like il have a bigger cash flow coming in, so I am just contemplating 3 ideas to make power.

1. Turbo kit should put down about 170 horsepower nad 150 torque at the wheels for about 4k when all is said and done

2. K20a2 engine swap puts down 200 horsepower and 140 torque (according to cars.com research page)

3. Nitrous kit I can get fro 350 from a member here, and as he said put down an extra 35-40whp tuned

My questions. What is safer to do for the longrun. Spray and boost put strain on the motor, but if say I did the swap, im geting the same power from the motor to begin with, so I assume its better for the longrun. Also, what is the deal with legality. Ive heard that swaps are illegal to do, and some people said its OK as long as the OBD system stays the same (here it would be OBD2)

Thanks

EDIT: the k20 also would come with a 6-speed trans.

I voted to swap it and later you can do some kind of forced induction on top of it.

If your serious about making some real power I would save for the swap. The money you save not spending it on the motor you have now can go to mods to the new engine.

I vote for a swap. Save the money and do it right the first time. It’s also by far, the most reliable in the long run. Plus it will last you for the next 10 – 20 years as a daily driver.

I think that will be the final stage for my Accord also (H22.)

i don't mean this in any way to be disrespectful but how old are you? my mom doesn't like that i mod my car but **** what she thinks, it's my money.. i love her and respect her, but she cannot control how i spend my money. of course, it's different if you live at home i guess

i would save the money and in a couple years and get this bad ass swap i heard about, you drop a 2001 civic lx into a mitsu dealership and make like 300whp in your brand new awd evo. plus, i'm going to guess you're around like 17-18 ? you'll be over 20 in 3 years and not living at home ( RIGHT? ) so you can mod the **** out of your car and not care what your parents think

Living at home ftw!

1. move out
2. mod the hell out of the civic
3. do donuts in your parents lawn
4. loose your inheritance

Sorry I had to say it. Do all 3! Be the fastest and the slowest civic in the world. You will be capable of 9's if the front wheels touch the ground.

If you want to make real power, buy a Tiberon.

It really doesn't sound like you have the kind of money to make any kind of power. If your not willing to drop 2 grand in one shot, your probably not going to go very fast. Honestly, your best bet would be to pick up an older car as a project. Keep your current Civic and just leave it alone. If you like Hondas, get yourself a 92-95 civic, 88-91 CRX, etc. and swap either a K or B engine in either one of those. You can always turbocharge it down the road. This way you won't have to worry about any issues with OBD-2 either.
