i just bought a new phone from e-bay, but when i called verizon to have it activated, they told me that the esn # was locked, and they aren't able to unlock it. i asked why not, and i was told that it is a security feature that has been put in place so that if the phone was stolen, nobody can use it. (this sucks because i bought it from ebay, and i guess anyone who does so may face the same problem!) so, does anyone know of a way to get the esn # unlocked so i can use this phone? is there some way i can do it myself ? or do i have to have verizon do it for me? i find it hard to believe that the company who locked the esn cannot unlock it.

I think you got got man have you tryed talking to the person that sold it to you?

i think so too, i haven't contacted him yet, but if i can't get it working, i mos def will.

the only other thing I can suggest is spending sometime ongoogle look up troubleshotting, and see if someone else besides verizon can unlock it for you for some phones lots of ppl do it.

Phone unlockers don't work on verizon. There could be money owed on the account or it could have been stolen or lost. COntact the seller but thtere really isn't much you can do.
