New toy... a little macro action

Got some new toys from B+H today, one of which I just played with... i'm now able to focus really close, and realllllly close. Just grabbed a quarter and then a little piece of brocolli to test it out and its pretty neat. I'll have to find some real subject matter next time around.
These were shot at 800 ISO because I forgot thats what I had the camera set, woops. All I did was convert from raw, resize, and sharpen.
Edit: These are all full frame, uncropped!

Cool...i gotta start making time to get to know my camera. I have D50 i bought over the summer and have been too busy to spend the time using it. Im hoping to hit the poconos in the spring and just spend a few days on the lake with it.

^^ as I am but I can't afford those cameras you guys have. I just work on my angles for now, looking for those money shots is getting easier, but I just don't have the power with this thing. Keep up the nice shots Troll.

eh, these photos show none of the photographers ability, just the ability of his equipment. those who shoot know that being able to focus that close is nearly impossible so i just wanted to show the new capabilities, not that i know how i will take advantage of it.

Even with my sigma 180 macro @ f32 at full 1:1 the dof is very shallow. But that's part of the challenge. Checkout the actual part of the photo that is in focus. That hopper is about an inch and a half from head to the tip of his wings.

well its actually an inexpensive reversal ring which allows me to mount lenses backwards onto my camera. it adds a few challenges but nothing major... the not as close shots are a reversed 50mm and the closer shots are a 24mm lens. i already had both of them so buying the reversal ring wasn't a big deal. i'll have fun with it but after using them i can see the appeal of a true macro lens.

Man I don't know maybe I need to get reversal ring. I can think of some instances where I could use the magnification you show in that 2nd pic. That has to past 1:1 reproduction uncropped. Very impressive on the closeness.
