when the strap broke on my car, it hit one of my friends in the hip, and the wheel grazed another kids foot ripping his shoe off. everyone was ok. the car was about a foot from the wall

your very very lucky and was there any damage to your car???

A lot of people don't appreciate how much momentum a spinning drivetrain has. If you put a car on a lift, got the wheels up to a good speed and then just mashed the brakes you could generate enough torque to flip the car off the lift. Stay well away from cars on a dyno.

what i wanna know is, why didnt the guy filming say anything bout the first strap breaking in the malibu video..looks like you can clearly see the one closest to the camera break first

yeah, i broke my driver side rear control arm. that is what the rear straps were

They didn't use enough straps on your car... that's the main reason it came off. On a fwd car, you are supposed to use 4 straps up front and 2 in the rear.

Those guys with the malibu didn't use enough straps either. That's what people get for cutting corners. I don't know why people put their dyno's so close to the damn wall either. I put mine 10 feet from the wall to prevent any body damage from happening to a car if it happened to come off the dyno.

And for people standing so close to the dyno? I can't believe the operators even allowed that... especially given the small amount of space that they are working with.

Shame on the camera man for not telling them the first strap broke. I would have kicked his a$$ for not saying sh*t.
