Old News- 8.8 Billion dollars missing

Old News I know, I tried to do a search but I couldn't see if thid was discussed already, if so my apologies if not, let's discuss.

Has anyone heard the news about how out of the 12 billion dollars we were introducing into iraq for their re-development fund, 8.8 billion of it is un-accountable for? One of the main benefactors was Halliburton. Whats everyones take on this? legitimate, as in iraq's book keeping is that bad, or was it just another presidential gift for bush, or could it have been stolen by a terrorist group? This is the 2nd large sum of money to go missing within Bush's presidency in my knowledge. 1st one being the missing gold from the World Trade Center.

BTW, according to the new found reports, the 8.8 bil was handed over to Iraq's ministries, but still terribly accounted for once there.

It was IRAQ's money to begin with (oil money), and the US pledged to let them keep it. Lots of the money went to security groups (mercenaries), lots went back to the Iraqi people, lots I'm sure got spent rather joyfully by ministry leaders, lots (LOTS) went to contractors, whether it be defense, or places like Haliburton (yes, they do actually work over there), bribery isn't cheap in foreign soil, sometimes you need people in places, and you need others in different places ;) , and I'm sure lots of the money found the way back on to American soil.

BTW, this isn't "old", it's THREE YEARS old.

But in short, the 8.8 billion was poorly accounted for by the hired accounting group. Not everything was written down and taken notes on, but what the hell do you expect? Sometimes money is needed for not so nice things. War's expensive. War's dirty. People die in War. War is essential. Sorry, it's reality.

Hi I'm glad you voice your opinions, in fact thats all i wanted from this post to hear everyones opinions. (Not to sure why you took it on such a personal level. Did you get a cut of the money or something?

Yea it's old, but I'd rather discuss something like this then anna nicole smiths death, sorry man try to relax, especially on a sunday morning, go watch some cartoons or something.

Oh but as you said you agree that the some or most of the missing money didn't make it there, and was used for other things, ie feeding the pockets of the administration?
Ha I agree War is esxspensive, dirty, and people die, but it's not essential, and this one is especially not.

I will bet $10 Billion dollars that no one ends up in prison or dead over this one.

If I would've stolen just $10 Million dollars there would a huge man hunt for me. It's not really the fact that this money is unaccounted for, it's that no one is RESPONSIBLE for this money being missing.

Sooner or later, this war WAS essential. It should have been done years before, when we said we were going to after Saddam didn't follow the treaties presented to him by the UN (think back when Clinton was in office). But anyway, that's off topic of the thread and I"ll keep that talk to a minimum (that's the last of it, promise).

Well actually, people have already ended up in prison for this one. They were probably the lowest on the scale, but none-the-less, everyone needs their scapegoat. I'll get the links to it in a second.
