For the love of god, if you cant ski/Snowboard keep your ass off the slopes!

Im getting at least two traumas a night for idiots plowing into trees at the local ski slopes. Seriously, is there something I dont understand about snow sports that makes them so dangerous?

Now excuse me while I go prepare for the inbound medevac from Bear Creek.

its just that its one of those things thats usually fun even if your not good at it. go for a while, fall on your butt, go for a while, fall on your face, repeat until bottom of slope. Good times for all, especially the friends of those people getting to watch them bust their butts!

^lol a heart palp. is simply any deviation from the hearts normal beating pattern.

Sa Node to AV node.

ummmm im trying to think of how to say this short and sweet.

your hearts SA node wants to beat at about 70-75 times per minute. This is slightly faster than the AV node wants to beat. The result is a Glub Blub sound. Your heart beat is actually the 2 sets of Bicuspid/ tricuspid valves slapping shut.

The Right atrium, then the Left Atrium.

A palputation doesnt really tell you much seeing as its just a abnormal beat. A palp. can be a murmur, a unclosed foramen (hole in the heart), a valve that has been dis-connected from its chordea Tendenae and blown inside out, or a hole in the cuspid (vlave itself).

Ask your doctor if he can tell what your pulminary stroke is. Thats the only number I really look at to determine if a patient has a serious problem. A stroke is simply the amount of blood being actually pumped through your arteries with each ventricular contraction.

This is how I remember how to figure out your stroke ratio:

Super Charged, DR.

Ventricular Systale (Contraction)
-------------------------------------
Ventricular Diastole (Relaxation)

I could literally write you 2 more pages. I hope that all make sense. Just remember, a palp. isnt bad. A murmur isnt bad, as long as your bodies tissues are being properly intervated and your heart is pumping strong enough your all good.

I understand that, but at what point to you go flying into a tree and not think to bail out before suffering a severe head trauma?

Lol what kind of a werid feeling?

Your boss obviously isint a doctor

Has a doctor ever told you that you had a palp.?

Do you often feel like you cant catch your breathe?
Always tired?
Tightness in chest?

If yes, dont panic. Just make an appointment with your family doctor.

On topic....the slopes are SUPER icy right now and it finally got cold so MAD people are going riding. The two things combined is a recipe for disaster. That would be why I am not riding. I work at a ski/snowboard shop and everyone I talk to has horror stories recently of getting cut off or being taken out by people who are either going to fast for the amount of people or who simply cant ride and are out of control. Have fun buddy.

My boss said its possibly a palpitation because I have had like....5 cups of coffee today and they are brought on by the caffeine? But as you said, hes not a Doctor, so Im asking you, I trust your input

See, Cobalt. A palp. isnt bad all the time. Just a slight disease (Dis-ease).

I didnt want to get into tachycardias and arthimic pulses and differing PQRST waves and defibrilation, and 12 wire EKG's but I can if you want me too

I would try cutting back on the Coffee. Caffine interfers with the signal being sent by the SA node to the AV node. This throws off your PQRST cycle.

Your heart isn't skipping a beat. More like its stumbling over its own electrical impulses. Its stuttering because your forcing it to beat faster.

Try cutting down to coffee, if its still going on see a doctor. If you need me to explain this in person let me know. Ill meet you at a diner or something. Ill even bring my books.

lol, do you have a trauma center? i think a good 10% of the "heart attack" patients we get in are just cases of tachycardia misdiagnosed ( like they should be doing that in the first place ) by the paramedics

i LOVE when i get an episode, i can feel it coming because i get very lethargic and light headed. then i can feel my heart beating so hard/fast i can count the beats just from the pressure, i'll run up to the first nurse or anyone in sight ( someone doing clinicals if i'm lucky enough to find one HAHA ) I did that **** to a girl from DCCC doing her clinical hours and she tried to call a code, she counted something like 180bpm

no...cause I have a feeling that would all freak me out.

My Dad died of a heart attack at 43 so I have yearly heart testing,
I have the test where I have to lay there with the thingys on my chest, arms and legs and I have one that is kinda like a ultra sound, where they take pictures of my heart...as far as I know everything is usually fine...

I just thought maybe this feeling was brought on by too much caffiene...now Im kinda scared

ok, that makes me feel a little bit better. I really hope the feeling stops soon cause its just kinda annoying. I appreciate all your knowledge and your time If it persists I will definatly go see my Doc.

I may just milk my symptoms for a chance to meet the ORIGINAL Dr. McDreamy from Greys Anatomy in person

But for real, thanks, youre a sweetie

^Dont be scared. Just cut back on the Coffee.

It sounds like you get yearly EKGs which is great. Just stop with the Caffine. No big deal. I tell all my patients with irregular beats to just eat an apple or orange in the morning. Just for a week, if you dont feel 110% better by the end of the week Ill mail you a check for the cost of the fruit.

Seriously try it.
Get a good nights sleep, eat a piece of fruit when you wake up, dont wake up 13 minutes before work. Your body needs time to wake up in the morning. I usually set my alarm a full hour before im supposed to wake up and just sit on the floor in the shower eating a orange .

Of course that means I get an average of 3 hours a sleep a night lol.

lol medics know their ****. The problem is that too many hospital care providers think the medics word is set in stone. I always check twice. As you know, once the patient care is transferred my ass is on the line.
