Ethanol... roughly 70 to 85%.

Interestingly, Brazil has been using Ethanol (in the form of sugar cane) for decades now.

I’m not an expert, however, to my knowledge, as long as it’s programmed correctly it's safe.

Lotus produced the Exige 265E as a test model and it’s fast as hell.

I'll do some more digging, however.

All i know is that since they started adding ethanol my bike has been having problems. I hear that gas with ethanol evaporates more quickly leaving behind gunk. ....my bikes carbs are gummed up. Has never happened in the 12 yrs ive been riding...happened right after my first tank with ethanol.

Just my 2 cents....Probably won't matter in cars because people drive more but my bike sits for weeks at a time sometimes

You probably need to adjust your carbs for the new fuel. E10 requires a slightly different mix, fuel injected cars do it automatically though.

E85 being available is great, it'll be a cheap alternative to race fuel.

^^hes right.

you need to use MORE E85 than you would gas. When its tuned right it can show benefits.

100 to 110 Octane FTMFW.

(In theory anything with higher Octane should reduce detonation.)

E85 does have an octane rating of about 100 MON. The stuff is awesome from a performance basis, BUT you have to have a specific map for it to realize this benefit.

Yes, but under identical conditions you don't get as much energy from it.

100 octane, less mileage, higher price, gummed up engines, cleaner air

exactly. I actually just learned a lot about fuel today in shop. I had thought that the difference in octanes was basically that the higher you go the hotter it has to be to burn, but I learned its actually that the higher octane you go, the slower it burns. So less energy from it, but able to run high compression w/out detonation.

thats why you make more power with less octane, but can be risky

The exige is fast anyway, and Ethanol sucks! Gas prices are up! Mileage is down! and for what! Why help the environment when you gotta pay twice as much to do it!

E85 is awesome. I want to convert the evo to it. Higher boost and more power with a good tune. Most cars will need a bigger fuel pump and new injectors from what I understand also. You need more fuel. Also, it is highly corrosiove and if the car isnt set up for it you can do alot of damage.

WHY?
because I can safely run 400whp on "PUMP" and not 300 whp.
Have you ever seen prices for racegas? and do you enjoy how racegas fouls o2 sensors?

thats what i plan on doing with my sti with hydra and 1500cc injectors and probbably the evo

afr's need to be about 7 and ill be able to make over 500whp on pump (with ma new setup)

104-105 octane and therefore it´s more knock-resistent and can tolerate more boost or a higher CR.

Cools the intake charge more and therefore it´s more knock-resistent and can tolerate more boost or a higher CR. And it also makes the engine run cooler and to some degree, even safer.

At least 5% more effícient than gasoline at the same lambda value (up to 25% more efficient on some cars optimized soley for E85).

E85 stoich .................. 9.765
E85 max power rich ...... 6.975
E85 max power lean ..... 8.4687

I am also on the E85 boat. Just look at where it comes from, that puts it way ahead right there. Is this going to be a regular thing now in PA or just a handful of stations?
