Alright, this could be long...

1. Continuity - There literally is none in this picture. I see a picture of a guy, direct cutoff and then an indecipherable image on the right hand side. The text just bounces between fonts without any kind of unifying theme. In my opinion there is no continuity in this piece, no blending, shading, anything.

2. Lens Flare - You used a lens flare. Fail. See below point.

3. Point of focus - The point of focus is the lens flair. Seriously, it just pulls your eye at a picture of the tower in Seattle (forget the name). What do you want the main focus to be? That glare has a degenerating effect on the entire piece. For example, when you look at the color scheme which is obviously red tints, yellow, and black - there are blue lines on the black layer which just throws it off in my opinion.

4. ??? - What is the behind the text "Family" and "That Pray Together"? I really can't tell what it is.

5. The glow around the text is weak in my opinion. Don't use text glow as a cop out in order to make it visible. It can be done but usually a 1px stroke around a serif or sans serif font works better in my opinion. Things like Base02 and Heroin Sans don't glow well (again, opinion, and it might not be heroin sans... actually looking twice I am sure it isn't just not sure what it is).

6. Border - Use a border.... PLEASE.

Ok, now some good things.

1. You used a vector mask. Brings a good focus to the image and directs the attention at the main picture while giving a good back round for text to be displayed.

2. The fonts are good. When they are bouncing back and forth, they aren't however. I would try to stick with 1 font.

3. The idea of the tower as a graphical flair was good, but ruined by the lense flare.

Eh, thats all for now, if you want some more critique just say something.

Not really, I just look at it and say what I think is wrong, I did a huge one for an art portfolio for someone on another forum earlier today.

i think renegade hit the nail on the head...the only thing that really bothered me was the lens flare on the tower, i couldnt stop looking at it. other than that the other things are fairly minor

Lol @ dirt. Yea, I tend to get my brushes from there site. I juss gotta practice more and learn some new stuff...I don't follow tutorials cause I learn better by juss doing it...I really enjoy doing it though...
