Tales of car abuse

My first car was a 1997 Ford Taurus LX. It did not have the standard pushrod engine, but a DOHC 3.0 V6 known as the Duratec. I got this car from my grandma with about 80 thousand on it. I put over 30,000 miles a year on it flooring it everywhere and never taking care of it. I don't think I changed the air filter once while I owned it. Oil changes would be every 5000+ miles. It burned oil but I seldom added it and more times than I can remember the level was below the dipstick. I would do parking brake slides all over the place and launch the car by brake torquing it. Right before we got rid of it the the engine's vacuum lines were all dry rotted and held together with duct tape and hope. Everything on that car was broken, hell I even broke the rear swaybar from cornering it so hard. RIP Taurus

i mastered the ebrake drift with a pedal ebrake, that was fun

My first car was an early 80's cutlass brougham. 350 w/turbo trans. my father built. It took the worst beating I could give it and just laughed at me. I ran it through fences, guard rail hopping, bridge jumping and several games of bumper tag. The body starting falling apart but the engine was a monster with no maintenance at all, not even one oil change in 30K. I just kept filling it up when it got low. They don't build egines like they used too. Of course now I know how to take care of a car and wish I still had that engine.

I used to drive a blue 2003 Ford Explorer around west chester a lot when i was 16. If anyone remembers me driving this thing, i used to be freakin nuts. One time i did a neutral drop at 6000rpm and the whole driveline felt like it was going to come apart. We let the oil change go to about 13k i think before it was sludged up completely.

- I drove it over train tracks at 60mph.
- Dropped it into reverse at 30mph and floored it, the tires were spinning backwards smoking and it took almost 1000 feet to stop.
- Trans lost 5th and 4th overdrive, reverse barely worked.
- Turned it in at lease end and they never billed us crap.

I used to blow the airhorn in that thing around west chester. and we would just drive around in circles and circles...lol. Fun days. Also i would always make really sharp ass turns so that the tires would squeal so bad that it sounded like you were about to crash.

87 Nissan Sentra, never changed the oil, threw a rod through the block after owning it 2 years and driving it for about 8 months....drove it for another week with the loud knocking because I had just filled the tank.

I did! I had an 89 Ford Tempo and I drove it until the tranny fell out. I took it off roading in the woods, used it as a "sled" in the snow, piled, like 12 people in it once while cutting school and busted out the back window when I locked my keys in it on more than one occasion. Yea, Im hardcore

I took care of my 84 sunbird. First car, never did alot of stupid things with it. It was so slow there was no use in abusing it. Instead I piled a $3k stereo system into it.

i never really beat on any of my vehicles ... off roading in my 83 ramcharger but always did the maintenance on it .. linelocks on the s10 ..

we did annihilate my friends mothers car (with her permission) we took it off roading neutral drops ( forward and reverse) high speed corn fields.. one night we were ripping around and we realized it was making a weird noise .. car jsut sounded louder then normal so we pulled over in sheets and i took a look under the car ... exhaust from cat back was gone .. we retraced our trip and ended up finding it in a mudhole .. back to my house at 2am to fix it haha .. oh and only the safety worked on the hood so it would just kinda move up and down a inch while driving.. didn't like being in the front of that car haha ... when she took it in for one of those " we'll give you 3 grand for what ever you bring in " deals she said the guy said he's never seen tir rods bent to that degree and was pulling out branches and crap (still got the 3k)...

good times

wow from the dead hahahaah didn't realize it was such an old thread ( saw it as i was posting a new tread) .. oh well .. any new stories

I got air going through an intersection well into 4th gear the other day after I downshifted to beat a light that turned yellow after being green for literally 2 sec. There was nobody else at the intersection either. So I was goin 60 in 6th and didnt feel like slamming the brakes so i threw it in 4th and floored it. The engine and wheels sped up like crazy whilst in the air. it was fun.

my first car (93 ford explorer) was off roaded and jumped so many times I twisted the body. Windshield, sunroof, pass window, and rear window all leaked water like a mofo. then i put 2 loud ass horns on it and scared people all the time.

also blew a tire off the rim from doing J turns in a gravel parking lot. 4wd would't totally unlock sometimes due to beating the hell out of it. Went powersliding in the rain and hit a guard rail and bent the chrome bumper and driver fender. fixed it with a shovel on the side of the road.

Did a 3 minute pegleg burnout with palmolive and bleach. Blew the trans seals. leaked trans fluid everywhere and popped the tire. ditched the old rims/ tires in the woods and put on a spare set i had. Never filled up the trans fluid, and had to let it run for 5 mins before i went anywhere so it'd go into gear.

did a J turn in a wet parking lot and hit a dry patch mid slide and almost rolled it.
almost flipped it over into a ditch avoidind a deer in the snow.

went out EVERY time it snowed and slid everywhere.

donated the truck to charity.

i wasn't a smart kid (still not really....)
