possible cure for most cancer ?

http://www.newscientist.com/article....ine-news_rss20

pretty cool in theory, of course in-vitro studies arn't really anything to get excited about until they're tested in-vivo. how something looks on paper isn't necesarly how it will look in a living organism, still, this is pretty amazing.

Wow. That's new to me. I didn't know cells could be starved of oxygen on the cellular level so easily.

But, there have been other claims like this that haven't come to fruition. I hope they get enough money to do some more research.

They've also made claims of large dosages of pure Vitamin C to the source...

That is awesome. Could you imagine the impact on society if this works. Amazing, the cost of healthcare would plummet.

The next step is to run clinical trials of DCA in people with cancer. These may have to be funded by charities, universities and governments: pharmaceutical companies are unlikely to pay because they can’t make money on unpatented medicines.
I think that says it all.

^ I think due to the fact that it isnt patented is interesting. I feel like if the tests are sucessful companies will begin to work on a more effective version. If they can find something and change its compunds enough they can then patent that and make a profit. I would think big pharma is working on this currently so there will be some investment.

However, that statement is sort of misleading. As I understand it if a drug is found to be a "vaccine" then the government will fund it so it can be provided to all who could be affected. I think, if a few congressman/woman champaion the cause, they could get this through under that distinction. While it isnt a "vaccine" it is a cure for an ailment that affects millions. While I would much rather have indusrty handle it as they would be more equipped to alter it for maximum effect, if they are unwilling the gov should step in.

its amazing what is out there that we will probably never see. drugs and therapies that could end what are now terminal illnesses. but these things will never hit the market for the sheer fact that they arent marketable enough. i used to work for a company that ran tests for pharma companies for FDA approval and it is simply amazing the things that are out there that we will never see

being a cancer survivor i think this is awesome! But like brokenshift states there are many many drugs or vaccines that are out there that just will never bee seen to the masses. When I was in treatment my last week they used a different "trial" medicine on me. It was phenomenol. Whether or not it made it's way into the mainstrem I'm not sure of, but if id did it would make the cancer treatment experience a lot less miserable and painful.

good find!

that sucks, glad you overcame it though!

I remember this one drug......lets say it was marketed for migraines, well they also found out that if taken once a month would lower cholesterol and prevent heart attacks. however the company producing this drug couldnt market it as having two uses. the FDA only allows a drug to be marketed for one use and because CME is as strict as it is there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Unfortunately pharma companies lose millions in research and testing of the drug before it is ever approved, they then have a 4 year patent on the drug to make the money back up and profit before the patent is up and other pharma companies can begin making the drug as well as cheaper companies like walmarts "equate" brand.

its mind blowing the things that are out there that could be saving peoples lives that we will never know about let alone the ones that wont be approved to save peoples lives due to FDA law

absofreakinglutely true. I heard a rumor (but based on what i've heard..true) that there was a cure for either flu or common cold and they won't give it out because that is where they make all the money. No more flu, no more of all them ****ty, terrible tasting medicines, especially cherry flavored
