New pics of Batman

It's filthy, but I wanted to take some pictures.

I'm using a Canon Rebel Xti. Any reason why my pictures don't seem as clear or as colorful as everyone else with decent cameras? What am I doing wrong?

Looks good. Play with the white balance on the camera. It will take out the yellowish look.

look for better lighting..it looks like the garage you were in had yellow lights,,thats no good.. and shoot in RAW then using photoshop to open the pic and finish your processing by chosing the correct white balance

Don't have photoshop. Used to have it, but not at the moment. Just using Ifranview to resize.

Batman looks good with the shaved hatch, not sure how I feel about the black wheels though, I think those wheels look pretty damn good the way they come, but I may change my mind if I could see some better pics of them.

As far as some tips when shooting.

1. Use a tripod if you aren't already, because some of the pictures seem slightly out of focus.

2. As already mentioned adjust your white balance to get rid of the yellowish tint in your pics.

3. Try shooting from one angle at multiple different settings to get a feel for how each setting effects your pics.

It looks like you were shooting freehand, in a fully automatic mode (correct me if I am wrong).

Your camera is capable of some amazing pictures, but it isn't gonna do all the work for you. Familiarize yourself with the settings on your camera and take as many pics as you can you will only get better with practice.

whats said above should be really helpful. if you havent yet, read your manual. twice. there is no point in having a great tool if you aren't even aware of the things it is capable of.
you're on the right track though, getting out there and shooting is the way to improve. see what you've done that you like and see what you think could use some improvement.
if you were using a tripod then how stable is it? also consider using the self timer to take tripod photos so you dont shake the camera just by pressing the shutter release.

I am using a tripod. I think it is a pretty decent one. SLIK or something like that.

I know I need to take more pics and practice, but the color never seems as vibrant as others on here. The self timer is like 10 seconds, I've been trying to figure out how to shorten it. I haven't read through the manual yet, as I'm extremely impatient and hate reading.

I need a better place to take some pictures too. The lights there were yellow, not white.

Car looks great, id look into getting the black headlight and tail light vinyls for it since your going with the all black theme.

even if the lights are yellow, setting the correct white balance will make them appear white.
by default your camera is defaulted to daylight, which is about 5500K
that means that tungsten/iridescent light will appear amber
flourescent light will appear green
if you set your white balance for tungsten when you're in tungsten light (like above) it will correct the color shift which will help a ton with your colors.

aside from that nailing your exposure, shooting in good light, and maybe a bit of post processing will also help bring out the color.

are you in pa? hit me up and we can go out and I can give you some pointers in person, and or see what you are doing wrong. Plus I wouldn't mind getting some pics of our cars together. If you aren't in PA:
1-get a tripod (I know you didn't use one for these)
2- Adjust you're white balance
3- try using the AV mode. and adjust the fstop. it will then automatically adjust the shutter speed.

you got almost the same camera as I do so you're pics should be banging!!!
