okay, we live in a heavily sunni area so we expected something to happen. in the shack alone we had our m4s (2) m9s (2) m24 (1) m107(1) and an m240(1) (thats rifle, pistol, sniper, anti material, and machine gun for you civvies) so we're up there waiting....and all they did was shoot a mortar...just one...and it missed by 650 meters. I hate it when they let me down

hmmm...wouldn't there be heavy fighting in the shiite areas? The sunnis want revenge so I assume they will make trips to the shiite neighborhoods and attack. The shiites already made a move by killing saddam, now they are just defending themselves against any kind of reprisal from the sunnis.

edit: oh, but I see what you're saying. You think the sunnis will attack US troops as revenge. It's more likely they'll attack the shiites. But, a series of reprisal attacks on US troops is possible.

P.S. What's this shack like that you guys have?

I have not been to the sniper school however, as im one of the better natural shots in the troop im a "designated marksman" which is more or less the same thing (in this application anyway)

as for the shack i dont have any pics of the outside of it any more as my external hd burned up so i'll just describe it. theres this big arch as you drive in the gate and on top of the arch we have a two man wooden shack thats sandbagged and has power, windows, and most importantly HEAT.
