OPERATION AUSSIE THUNDER *Updated 8/19/07*

Some updates on the Goat-

Turns out that I have probably the best aftermarket hood for a GTO. It's called an MPD Scorpio, and is modelled after the 69/70 Judge's of yesteryear. What warrants its price is apparently the build construction of utilizing both steel/fiberglass parts, and the details. The grills of the scoops match those of my actual grill, and each hood is machined with a duct right over the intake. Even better is the heat extractor, which is at the back of the hood. Apparently these cars get hot. Obviously I wouldn't know, b/c Ive had this heat extractor the whole time.

I found out what it was b/c I decided to register at lsxgto.com, and did my homework. I thought I had an RKSport, but I started looking at pics and mine was CLEARLY the MPD. Which is good, b/c apparently the RK sport flexes at high speed.

They (MPD) offers a "ram air" box for intakes that hooks up directly with the duct. I'm waiting to hear back on prices without their cone (I just got an intake!) and whether or not I can use it in the rain. If so, i'd love to get one.

Also..I installed a hurst knob/lou's short stick last week, but redid it today with 4 twist ties and some creative dremeling to make the stick stick out of the boot. I decided that a boot just didn't look good crammed up to the ball, and I wanted a bit more old school flair. B/c of the lock nut on the ball, my shifter isn't as short as it could be, but eh, that doesn't really matter to me. The shifts are cleaner and I brought a touch of old school.

And finally, it took me 3 hours to install a K&N Aircharger. I had to move several things, and it was quite a pain in the ass. However, my car now sounds like a lion ready to seize upon a gladiator. **** is TIGHT.

As for future goals:

I've decided to wait on the cam, and do full bolton's first. That way the cam won't suffocate me.

Pics coming as soon as I figure out my lady's camera, which she should have NEVER left here.

Dylan- over and out.

Yea man. The intake sounds like a hurricane. On the Z it was so highpitched, but man, this thing just sounds like its gonna leap out and maul you. I'm trying to have the exhaust by the end of break, hence me pulling 12 hour holiday shifts.

Goals: 425rwhp.

Some updates..

1.) Straight pipes. I decided that I wanted a deeper, louder exhaust. I also decided that I didnt want to spend 800$ on such. So what did I do? I merely removed the bloody mufflers. I absolutely LOVE the sound. Not as loud as I thought, but deep and raw. It bubbles, gurgles, pops, cracks, and roars. Have you ever heard the VXR500? Sorta like that, minus supercharger whine. LS1+straight pipes= GREAT combo.

2.) I did more deleting, and took the spoiler off. Right now I'm about 70% digging it, with the 30% reserved for the idea of more aggressiveness. However, the 70% includes: the body flows more, looks a bit more muscular in the rear, and the hood is really accenuated by it, almost making it look more "classic". It's funny, the Pontiac added the spoiler to make it more "classic", while I think that if they just had a hood like mine and no spoiler the effect would be better achieved.

3.) Got hit in the rear not 30 mins after the straight pipes went in, on the 30 bypass 322 exit. . No appraisal yet, but luckily the exhaust is fine and theres no damage past the rear.

Pics, vid/sound coming soon!

Dylan

Thanks man! I love my knob..Junior (05accent) hated on it but I think I might have made him a fan. Great for shifts, and it adds a bit of nostalgia. Not sure if you have all noticed, but its what i'm after ;)

It's a good time; handles, goes straight, comfortable..I think it looks good. Rednecks disagreed, but hey, due to that, I have a great car for cheap!

Thanks!

04-06 GTO= rebadged Monaro with new front bumper.

Vauxhall Monaro- rebumpered (in some cases) Holden Monaro, most stuff other than badges the exact same.

Holden Monaro- original; coupe cased off of Commodore sedan.
