are my rings gone?

I was driving to lunch today, and on the way there, my car was running fine, not smoking or anything. I pull into burger king and get on it a wee bit across the parking lot and shoot a huge cloud of blue smoke, shut the car off, ate, and left, but when I left it wasn't smoking anymore. wtf? Any ideas? Isn't it kinda weird for it to do that once and then stop?

White- HG, rich(usually under no load), huge amount of burnt oil(like when an oil ring breaks or turbo seal blows)
Black- rich under load
Blue under load only- worn rings/cyl wall
Blue under decel only- Valve guides
These last two are commonplace, but not the rule. Leakdown test maybe?

Do a compression or leak down test. If you do a compression test and once cylinder is low, add a cap full of oil in the spark plug hole. If it is your rings, the numbers for that cylinder should jump up.

If you feel air comming out of your valve cover then your rings are toast.

That about sums it up. And blue smoke on start up is also valve seals (I am assuming you meant that with valve guides).
