ray's lugs

What is so special about these lugs that they cost 120 dollars? is every set paired with a special one of a kind key so noone can steal them?

they're Rays. have you seen the pricing on their wheels?

but think about it...
set of McGuard Lug Nuts: $45
set of McGuard Locking Lugs: $40
its not THAT far off from your average quality lugs.

They are rays.

Period.

That's like asking why is cusco, mines, tommy kaira, trial, etc etc stuff expensive. It just is, you pay for a name (and don't get me wrong quality too, no doubt you get what you pay for but you do pay a bit more than usual...).

And trust me - I love cusco stuff for the GC/GM body, but goddamn can some pieces be expensive...

it's wheel bling man, that's why.

rays are aluminum and weigh like nothing, 4 of them are grooved with a key so you can't get rim jacked.

i have some red 12x1.5 for sale if you're looking for some

yea, but its lugs...light yea its nice, but they claim they weigh .8oz compared to the 2.1 standard...well for a 4 lug wheel thats 2.1-.8 so 1.3x4=5.2

5.2 oz doesnt really make that big of a difference I think. I understand when people go from 18lb wheels to 7lb wheels, but what difference does 5.2oz make...thats just more than 1/4lb

it doesn't make a HUGE difference, but it still helps. that's not the point though, people don't get them because they're so light, they get them because they're rays. if they weighed 2.5oz each people would still use them.

They aren't justifying their price through performance - you buy the name, they just happen to be lighter than others. Rays goes along with all the other high brand name JDM performance companies such as Amuse, Mines, Trial - any part you buy from them no doubt has quality, but they are a company and make money off of selling their name to you.

word.

it's like anything else these days, take clothing for example. when you pay 30 bucks for a t shirt from hollister you arn't paying that much because it's threaded with jesus's pubes, you're paying that much for the name. the quality is only slightly better than a 6 dollar fruit of the loom k mart t shirt

not to mention if you save 5 oz. per wheel, thats over a pound of weight loss, and (someone correct me if im wrong), but it has a greater effect than losing a pound normally would(2 or 3 times? something like that) because its rotational weight

im sure someone can explain it better than me.

but nonetheless, i agree that its the name you pay for

yeah, the lugs are unsrung rotational weight which actually makes it heavier than what they are. However, you gotta look at the radius at which it is off center as well. If an object of mass is near the center, the less centrifugal force it has. Lugs are pretty damn close to the center and NOTHING close to the rotational mass of wheels.
