These text and lingo trends have provided many an added element of humor to 'Teh Intarwebs'. I hope we never stop developing new ones.

And I wish all the people who thought they were clever by classiying and rating the lingo would 'die in a fire' (DIAF).

yeah i look down on the people who think that they are better because they stand beside atricles criticizing the grammer choices of forum goers. I for one love the "lingo" and see it as a joke in most cases, not serious grammer choices. If someone told me their dad died, I wouldnt say O RLY? But if someone said something less serious, an O RLY would be in store.

I do see the overuse of certain lingo (read: myspace blogs) as an indication that the writer is a trend-happy poptart. But even those text trends can be used in sarcasm and jokes that mimic trend whores.

Example: OMGHI2U, LOL.

i don't think i'm better because i stand by articles criticizing the grammar choices of forum goers, i think i'm better because i let "o rly", and "teh" die a respectful death once they trickled down to the general populace(not that a rare occasional usage is necessarily out of line)

I want to start using some of these terms in my final papers for college courses! What would a teacher do if I somehow fit an "O RLY" into a term paper outlining the process of building a fiberoptic network for a company with buildings spread across the US?
