meth tune on a wrx

hey, i was wondering if you guys have any experience with meth injection and if you install and tune for it as well. If so do you recommend any certain kits specifically. I have heard that progressive kits seem to be the best, but what is the best kit for the wrx and what other safety features are needed, thanks

I have installed/tuned injection kits from Aquamist, Hydramist, Snow Performance, SMC, and Devils Own. The Aqua Mist kits are by far the best injection kits, but the cost of the kits also reflects that. If you want to see all the componants of a proper injection kit, check this out. http://www.elementtuning.com/Hydrami...amistguide.htm. Then look at one of these kits. http://www.snowperformance.net/products.asp?id=1. The Hydramist kit does not have uneeded bells and whistles, every componant in that kit has a purpose. One of the most important things with tuning a injection kit is consistant line pressure. The Hydramist uses a PWM signal to control fluid flow, has a inline pressure damper, and does not use the stupid pressure check valve on top of the pump. 90% of all other injection kits dont have any kind of PWM signal to control fluid flow. They just rely on increasing or decreasing the pressure the pump puts out by varying the voltage to the pump, very crude in my opinion. I am raving about the Hydramist because like I said, I have installed and tuned a number of different systems, and there is no question the Hydramist system is hands down the best injection system out there. Unfortunalty it is basicaly set up to be used with the Element Hydra ECUs, but I do think it can be converted to be used with other engine management systems. But Aquamist makes the kits for them, so if you get a 2D system from them, it will have most of the features the Hydramist does.

that was rather informative. i thought i lost interest in meth inj. ... til now... i see on the snow website that they have a timing reducer to make meth injection "safe"... how do you feel about that product and the ability to make methanol safe to use?

I have not looked into the timing reducer dealio, but normaly you add timing when tuning with meth/water, I dont know under what circumstances you would need to reduce the amount of timing used. It all depends on what your idea of "safe" methanol is. I personaly dont like it. It is corrosive to aluminum, destroy rubber seals and just about anything other seal it touches. When I install an injection kit on my car it will be 100% water until I feel that I might run into temps where it will freeze, then I will only add 25% alky to keep it from freezing.

John if you were talking about a failsafe there are a lot of them out there. the Aquamist has a few built in to the system which will cover your ass in most cases and can be hooked up to instantly drop your boost to wastegate pressure in the event of a problem.
I've got an Aquamist 2D kit that'll go into my car sometime this winter and I plan on running 50/50 water and meth, and with the failsafes built in I'm not really worried about any safety issues with it.

Well when the object of the injection is to remove heat from the intake charge, I think heating the water would be kind of counter productive, but I have never tried it.

yea true... but relative temperatures... i mean im sure you could regulate it somehow... like the temps in the combustion chamber are still WAY hotter than you could ever get water ... but i think regulating it would be a PITA.
