Possibly buying 96 Honda Accord.. timing belt question?

I am looking at buying another car. It is a 96 Honda Accord EX 5 speed with about 136K on it. I asked the owner if the timing belt was ever replaced, and it doesn't seem like he knew what I was talking about (so I guess it was not replaced since he has owned the car). I am going to have to ask him how long he has owned the car, and how many miles did the car have when he got it. I know these timing belts are kind of important on Hondas, being its a good idea to replace it at 90K. Well being this car has 136K, I would guess a timing belt change would be needed. Is it possible to replace the timing belt yourself without it being impossible? I usually like to work on cars myself, and the thought of spending $500+ for a timing belt change.. rather try to figure it out for myself. I have done timing chains.. however a belt on an Honda will be my first. I also heard it’s a good idea to replace the water pump at this time, because the water pump is located where the timing belt is?
