Thought I was getting fired....

I got caught surfing monster when I printed out a copy of a job offer for more money than I make now and left it on the community printer. The CIO saw it and him, the VP of MIS and my supervisor came into my office and shut the door.

Oh $hit. I thought I was getting canned

NOPE! I got a promotion and a RAISE! And now I am salaried which means more sick and vacation time! Hot damn!! Best mistake I ever made.

Congratulations can be sent in the form of drink vouchers, gift certificates to performance shops, or (my favorite) horny attractive single women who dont mind threesomes.

In short - WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Well, thats the cool thing, when they asked me about why I was applying elsewhere, I straight up told them that they dont pay anywhere close to what the market rate is, so next quarter (three months time) they are going to match the raise they just gave me AGAIN!

This is going to help me with my debt so much it is ridiculous!

watch out for them salaried jobs. basically you can end up working 65 hours and get paid the same as working 40 hours a week. being a salaried worker has its bad side too.

I have to say, you got really lucky!

It's not really a good idea to go job hunting on company time, let along use company internet access and e-mail for job hunting!

If a company thinks you are unhappy and do not want to work there anymore, they will just can your ass. It has happened many times before.

Congratulations! Good luck with the new position.

I already work 65 hours a week. The increase in pay covers that lost overtime, and then some.

Regarding sick and vacation time, i just went from 2 weeks/2 weeks to 4 weeks/4 weeks. I didnt get married, I played my hand and won the pot. The way I see it, I can have that much more sex now.

Everyone else, thanks for the well wishes.

Good luck with the salary thing.

My previous employer decided on the week I was scheduled to work like 8 hours of overtime it would be a great time to move me to salary without telling me. I found out when my paycheck didnt include the number of hours I worked. I questioned my boss and he just said "your salary". I asked him when he was going to tell me I was going salary and he just shrugged his shoulders like he didnt give a **** and said "I dont see the problem". Looking back I should have quit right on the spot. I cant stand dishonesty.
