First educational viral vid I've seen since that "Stoned Professor" video. lol

I never thought of sound waves as waves of pressure, but more of waves of....uhm, what do you call it...sound. This should be required viewing in all high school physics classes.

That is freakin incredible.

I wonder how that came around to be knowledge and how the AUDIO part of that tube is setup.

Notice how you can see that he is using an MP3 where it has cut off the upper end of the audio scale during the second song. Pretty cool video...though, i may have done it with the door open...you know, what with the fire and all...

A longer distance from the tube does not equal a higher frequency range. Higher frequencies are represented by a tighter sign wave (more and shorter flame bumps). MP3 compression would simply lose the tightest sign waves (ones at such a high frequency I doubt you could represent them on that crude tube anyway).

The gaps in the tube during the second song were a technical difficulty. He probably would have had better results with a more powerful driver @ a higher volume.
