Finally stopped my CAI from rubbing against fender.

Not sure about other cars but in Tiburons the CAI follows the stock intake through a hole in the fender. A majority of the time the CAI will rub up against the fender and will slowly shave down the CAI until you have a nice hole in your intake.

I fixed that.

In the pic you can see my mock up, I took a coffee can, cut the bottom off with a can opener, cut vertically, then unravelled the can into a sheet.

I cut 2 4x4 squares with tin snips and then made 5, 1inch cuts vertically in one piece to help it conform to the intake pipe where it bends. Once I had the squares cut and bent to shape I zip tied them over the deep cuts that were on the intake piping from when I test fit my CAI for a week.

With the squares snug on the pipe with the zip ties I used old 89mm hose clamps and and clamped the squares on.

Then I practiced my weldind skills with my $200 30 year old welder welding coke cans together. I did a semester of welding at tech in HS and it came back rather quickly.

I then spot welded 6 spots on each square to the intake pipe.

I effectively gave my CAI another protective layer to gaurd against wear.

that's weird man, mine doesn't rub at all, did you cut the whole big enough to fit the pipe?

I can put up some pics of mine if you want to see

I used a pair of plyers to widen my stock hole, didnt have to cut or anything.

It was way easier than trying to angle any sort of cutting tool in there.

You won't have any issues... they will fit right up. Its just a biatch to get them off. You have to take the interier of the trunk apart.
