bikes! help me get one

i will be getting my 1st bike very soon, i have never ridding one either so what should i get for my 1st bike... i like the new CBR and the GSXR.. i dont mind getting an older bike as long as its after the year 2001 cuz i dont like how the older bikes looked "thin" i like the "beefy" look... i also have to do payments on it ..$90 a month or so

thats a 2001 cbr

this is a 2001 ninja

that was a 2001 r6

and that was a 2001 gsxr( i like this one) but love the 2007 alot more

they all look realy good i just need to find a place that sells older bikes cheap or new bikes cheap also... anything over 2001 i know winter is coming up so prices will drop

just look on cycletrader.com, if you dont find anything on there just start checking out some of the dealers in the area. personally i'd go for the R6, its just a better bike than the CBR and the ZX-6, and there are way to many people out there with gixxers

You need to figure out what size you want as well as color ect. If you are financing I would honestly buy a brand new bike or buy a private pre-owned and get a loan through a bank/credit union..May I add that the 01-03 GSXR-750 is probably the best all around bike bike for the money you can possibly buy..It is tame enough down low for your first bike as long as you know how to ride a motorcycle, but also revs to 14,500 and has much better power everywhere then any 600 unless it's brand new..FYI it will also dust ANY new 600 out this year..You could probably find one in the 45-5500 range that is nice..They are good for mid 10's stock, enough to hang with any non sizuki 1000cc superbike in that timeframe, and only weigh 340dry...it's science

The GSXR is the best in that class hands down. Whether or not its the best for a new rider is up for arguing. Just don't be an idiot and get a liter bike unless you want to end up as a smear on the asphalt. My bike is a 600 cc Yamaha FZ6 (same engine as the R6, retuned for bottom end) and I honestly wouldnt notice the difference stepping up to a 750cc. I mean, I personally cant shift through six gears in 4.6 seconds. Quarter mile time for my bike is 11.5ish. That is plenty fast no matter how you slice it.

Be safe, and ride well within your limits.

Not to sound like bitch or your mother, but I have been riding for nearly 10 years now and have been through 6 bikes. I think that the best bike would be an older 600 to 750 that would only cost a few grand, if not less. Pick something up for a steal that you can flip quickly when your ready to move up in the ranks.
This way if you do drop the bike your not going to be as pissed off or out as much money. Secondly, when you step up to the faster bike you will be more prepared to ride it hard and have that huge grin on your face again.
my 2 cents
I currently ride an 01 FZ-1

LOL, are you kidding me. You want him to die, dont you? A hyabusa is NOT a good starter bike for anyone. I moved up through the ranks, first started off with a GS500 Suzuki Bandit, then a 2003 GSX-R600, when that bike was stolen purchased a 2004 R-6.

I sold the R-6 less then a month ago for 5,100 bucks. Not even 1300 miles on it. If I every buy another bike again it's going to be a GSX-R1000.

If you want it, it's at BeABiker.com. He is the previous owner of Mt Holly powersports (Yamaha)

http://beabiker.com/04yamahayzfr6.html

Pictures are on their website

If I were you start off with the early year GSX-R's, they are pretty beefy and feal like your on a tank.

DO NOT buy a hyabusa.

+1 Everyone drops their bike at some point. My friend dropped his the second day. He was parked and it just fell over when he shifted his weight on it. So far I have been lucky, but it will happen. I have almost dropped it at least three times that I can remember. Once while riding, once at a light on an oil spot, and once parking it on some broken asphalt.

yeah, i wouldn't go with a new bike for your first. Pick up something a little older because as stated... everyone drops their bike at some point.
