My shopping was repainted a little while ago with shiny new crosswalks and lines that you stop your car at for the crosswalks. These lines also have STOP written under them on the street...but there's no stop sign. Do I have to obey it like stop sign or is it more of a "we'd like you to stop here if there's people in the cross walk" thing. Obviously if there's people you stop, but do I have to stop when there aren't people?

yes you obey those lines and words like you obey the lines and words on the road that have an arrow meaning left turn only in a turning lane

I knew that question would be silly, but there were only stop signs 5 years when I did my driving test. Thanks
