I don't think so 1)he's going to have a much better lawyer than they will and 2)those guys were very clearly harassing him. He tried to avoid him and they kept following. Then they pulled a bat out which I believe is considered a lethal threat within 20 feet and can be responded to with a lethal force. The worst case he'd have to return the camera.
