Pulled over in Brick, NJ

Matt and I were driving in Brick, NJ after revving on Jess' parked DSM.

A ricer Jetta stormed up on my right, passing me. I lightly brushed the STi's throttle, staying even with him. We came to a light, and I switched lanes. After that, took off normally, and then a cop pulled me over. Troll coincidentally called me in the middle of it.

I forget exactly what he asked me at first, but he had some choice comments.

Among them:

Do you always drive like that?
You should have been teh bigger man after he passed you on the right.
(After seeing PA tags/ID) What are you doing all the way out here in Brick, NJ?

He took my info and came back.. then said he was cutting me a huge break, and that he could write me up for "101 things." I bit my tongue, but he told me anyway.

Speeding (wrong), careless driving (wrong), no, even reckless driving (wrong), and also for that radar detector "or whatever that is up there on the dash" (wrong).

He also asked me how I know Matt, and what kind of car he drives. He then asked Matt if he drives like I do. Matt said "not often."

I guess it was Karma for revving on a cop the other night. Anyway, got off with no tickets. We got a good laugh out of it. Haha.

Well, we are not 100% sure if radar detectors per say are illegal, but apparently non-descript black boxes affixed to windsheilds via suction cups are...

I guess I'll buy a gray non-descript box to affix to my windshield via suction cups for driving down the shore ;)

Radar detectors ar eonly illegal in VA and DC. Perfectly legal in NJ. I am surprised he didn't try to say anything about my exhaust... didnt' even mention it. I guess he knew enough to know he can't touch me for it.

Your wing does not have aircraft warning lights on it... He totally could have busted you for that.

best thing about NJ is that they usually keep their radar on! God bless the V1!

I got the bomb dropped on me in Brick. Was comng home from Rt. 37 one night and I pulled up on a local automatic 2G DSMer whos car is slow. I had seen him once before and pulled over to talk to him to find out what he had done. He didn't know ****, so I pointed him in the right direction. Well, anyway I pull up on this kid in Brick about 5 months later and hes got exhaust and few other things. We were screaming to each other while driving. So we hit up the light on Brick Blvd and Chambers Bridge. He asked me to go from a dig. I said, ehh, kinda scetchy area but what the ****. He torque brakes and spools up is auto FWD. I have a nasty reaction time. So I launched and by 60mph (45mph zone) I had almost 2 cars on him(I am FWD too) and I shut down. I get about a half mile down the road and I am swarmed by 3 cops. I got nailed with Wreckless Driving, Careless Driving. I went to court and had the Wreckless Reduced to Careless and the Careless reduced to Unsafe Driving(no points). So i walked away with only 2 points instead of 6 but ended up paying 650 dollars in fines and court fees. Needless to say, I dont street race anymore. I wish i would have gotten these tickets when i was doing 100+, not 15 over the speed limit. It was 1AM and there wasnt a car on the road. Ohh well. Moral of the story. Dont F*** around ion Brick.
