Razr Problems HELP

My buddy has a silver razr, recently he changed SIM cards and now the damn thing won't turn on. The keyboard backlight comes on when you hold down the power, but nothing appears on the screen. When he put the old SIM back in, same thing.

Is it toast? Is there another way to soft reset the device? We tried swapping batteries but no luck.

Anyone?

You can soft reset...you can also get it into the boot screen. Does he have a mini-usb cable to plug it into his computer?

Also did he try holding down the power button, when the keypad lights up, press the power button again. How soon does your friend need it? If he backed up his address book (or it's stored on the SIM), I can reflash it for him for whatever phone service he uses which would put it back to stock.

Ya didn't have to do that. As long as you can get the phone into the boot mode, it is fixable.

You are thinking of a different boot screen. I am talking about a plain black screen that says something along the lines of: BootLoader "Whatever version", then it says the software he is using.

That's because you never threw a ROM on there or put it into that boot mode

Let me research and find you the article on what to do. I forgot off the top of my head but there are two keys you can press simoltaneously to force it into the boot screen. From there he can reflash/reflex the phone.

Become a nerd, it gets easier the more phones you do. I specialize in Motorolas easiest to mod. Saves a lot of money too, especially buying "broken" RAZRS off eBay, fixing them, and selling them again

Okay to force in boot loader mode:
Hold * and # while turning the phone on. If that doesn't work remove the battery and hold * and # while replacing the battery. If you get into bootloader flash with a reflash file.

Whatever is saved on the SIM will stay on the SIM. Anything you do to the phone will not affect the SIM or the data on there. It will however, wipe out any NON-OEM data that was saved on the phone. (i.e. pictures, ringtones, videos, etc.) That's why it's always good to back up your data, just like a computer. I am pretty sure I still have all the editing software like MotoTools, P2K Editor, and other misc. things if anyone needs further help and does not know what language I am speaking.

And Moto has the best phones ever...once I mod them that way
Quad band FTW with Free GPS (the real GPS), Java Games, and MP3s (not iTunes). It's just the Moto OS sucks balls, but that can be tweaked and changed easily.

Can't do it with the RAZR, only with the WM5 phones sorry! I can get you this cool number/signal thing that tells you whose tower you are on though...or how to keep your GPRS constantly on so it's sending/receiving data (just means you would receive MMS faster)

What are you looking for? I know how to get more then 100 songs but you can't use iTunes, there is no way around it...yet

There is a lot available for all phones just have to be more specific as to what you are looking to do.

*EDIT* I lied, there is a way to bump up your limit to 1,000 songs on the SLVR. But you have to do a reflex/reflash meaning you lose any data stored on the phone. But you pretty much have to unlock it with a certain ROM.
