Saturn = DSM

minus the performance and looks.

Fixed my motor mount problem where my engine was moving seemingly a foot back and forth during accel and decel...now today I was riding with the window open, and I've blown a wheel bearing. For no reason. It's just dead. I was driving and it's like, "FOOK J00!" and died.

So, if anyone has a spare car, manual or auto, preferably RWD or AWD that runs reliably that I could borrow in the mean time of beating the piss out of my car with a baseball bat, please let me know.

My car is a 2300lb piece of plastic on wheels.

Saturns naturally have more problems than DSM's...it's just that DSM's are more fun to make fun of. Oh, and we can't shoot our dipsticks out like you guys.

See now she has a point.

I'm rebuilding a motor for my "reliable and dependable" car. Also needs strut mounts and bushings. Any other car > Saturn

If you need help replacing the bearing, PM me. I've done it. Or see this page: http://www.xwarlordx.com/twin_cam/tech.html

I think that if you spent all the time you spend posting working on the car or at a 2nd job, your problems would not exist.

Reliable + dependable != s-series saturn.

Strut mounts? Come down my way. I can get them special order, KYB's to match those KYB-GR2 struts I see in your detailed pictures. I might just drive my POS to your place and we can do it there...

BTW:

Since I have to change out 1 bearing, I might as well change out the other on the other side. Oh yeah! Change out the hub spindle and retainer clips. Mmmm. So that'll rack me up a good 300 bucks for that, and there's a good chance my back ones are going bad, there's another 200 for those...and since I have to rip apart my drum brakes that don't work anyway (yes, they do NOT engage. I stop using only my front discs. Scary, isn't it?), I could put discs on for another 150 bucks...so we're looking at 650-700 bucks for me to fix 1 wheel bearing, because when 1 goes wrong, more go wrong soon after. GM times their parts like that. Ask any saturn owner. If it comes with more than 1, it'll break within weeks of the last one that broke.

*sigh* I fkin hate my car.

Maybe if you didn't drive like a complete retard / a$$hat every time you're on the road, your car wouldn't break. I'm sorry, but no car will live if you drive around almost redlining it everywhere and abusing it.

My car doesn't come close to redlining, thank you.

Lowering a car with a performance suspension on wheel bearings that can't distribute cornering loads will result in dead bearings very quickly, hence the tapered versions for the front.

lowered on stock struts or stiff struts? And what spring rates?

These play a good part on bearing life.

Not to mention, I'm sure my car has more miles than your old SC2 does, and much of it was hard driving by my mom...who everyone knows does NOT drive like a mom should.

I believe the car has close to 90,000 miles on it now. Still never a problem w/ the bearings...

Then you're lucky, but others have had this problem as well, so don't even start trying to say I drive like a dip****, because at least I know where my brakes are unlike most a$$hats on the road.

Interesting, I've never heard about anyone else having this problem when I used to browse the ol' S-Series forums...
