actually its because it was the default setting on the forum when we upgraded to VB3.5, and since there are roughly 5000 settings we have to go through, and nobody really seemed to care about it, we didnt seem to care about it.
also in the past some shady kids were using PMs to set up some shady business through the forum.

thanks for the welcome.. one more question,, how can i post pics? it says 100k max?? is that right? i tried resizing a picture down that small and you could not even see it and it would not upload anyway.. whats up with that?

100kb is pretty large actually... big enough to fill some higher resolution monitors up completely. give it another shot and if you have problems with it hopefully i or someone else here can help you with it.
