The Da Vinci Code

This is not meant to get out of hand. Let's keep it that way.

Ok, so I've been reading the book for the past few days and I decided this place needed to heat up a little bit.

Who has read, is reading, or plans to read the book?

This book caused such a firestorm with Catholicism when it came out and it made me wonder whether it was to save face or to actually cover something up. Obviously, it's meant to be a work of fiction, but due to the accuracy of the real life aspects, it makes you forget that you are reading a book and wonder if the things mentioned could actually be partially true. Some of the theories on the artwork is just amazing.

Lets get some other opinions. Keep it civil.

I've read the book, loved it.

I thought it was very well written and thought provoking.

I thought Angels and Demons was the prequel but I wasn't quite sure, thanks for clearing it up.

Read that one. Only took me like 2 days. Couldn't put it down.

The only bad thing is, being an IT guy, there were several places where I had to call BS.

Never heard of it...

J/K. I am sick of the hype around it. Discovery has a week dedicated to DiVinci and related stuff.

haha. i am pretty much agnostic and this statement cracks me up. Along with many people, I feel the bible is JUST a book....and this shows the irony in that.

Too late. The bible did that hundreds of years ago.

Guys I'm telling you. If you plan on seeing the movie, read the book first. I never have the chance to read anymore and I've actually been setting aside time the last few days to read this book. But judging by the looks of the trailers I think this movie is going to be pretty damn acurate with the book.

I am not saying this about anyone here, but i find it funny how this book has been out for a few years now and the hip thing of the moment is to read it. I am not saying that it is bad people are reading the book, however it is like "Yo have you read the da vinci code oh you haven't where have you been."

It's because the movie is building up the hype again. I recently got into it because I heard some good things about it from a friend and decided to check it out. I don't consider a book a bandwagon.

The thing that I really like about the book is that although its intended to be fictional, the story is built upon a history that is widely accepted around the world, and could very well be true.

Ehh i think the book is a bandwagon. Some people in this world buy books so they can look smart. I am not saying you are jumping on the band wagon i think it is good for people to read this book. I don't know just a personal problem i have with people who are sheep thats all.
