I am considering selling the STI for this
![]() ![]() http://www.zcars.org.uk/montecarlo/index.htm Tube Frame Mini: Hyabusa Suzuki Turbo: Weight 464 kilos Front Axle 264 kilos Rear Axle 300 kilos 0 to 60mph 2.8 seconds 100 to 0mhp 3.9 seconds With terminal speed of 153 mph BHP at Crank 235 Power to weight ratio 400bhp/tonne This can be built from £15000 (roughly $30K) Vid of it in action http://www.zcars.org.uk/videos/winmedia/trackrun.wmv I think this could be titled under a kit car here in the US. It has a windshield, wipers, mirrors, and this is the first car finally affordable enough for me to race. Tires and brakes last much longer when the car only weighs 1K lbs

PA is pretty good with getting stuff titled, so that shouldn't be too large of a concern. I suppose getting it here would cost a bit, but hell, may as well go for it.

I am seriously considering this, but the uncertainty of actually getting it titled is what is holding me back. One thing is for sure, it is very small and very, very fast. Sounds good and goes along with my dream of owning a tubular framed street car (someone give me money for an Ultima GTR).
I could see myself running the Reading hill climb in this thing twice a year. I would fit it with 2 Sparco buckets instead of the (1) Kirkey torture bucket. It is just so damn cute and a real head turner. If anyone has links to tubular framed street cars in the $30-40K range, please post them

I've also been considering one of these now they are offered with Subaru engines instead of the old VW ones. I saw a special on HDnet (I think) about them and they look hot with nice rims on them. Lack of roof is a big drawback though.

To be honest with you for those spyders since they weigh very little it might be better to have one with the old vw engine or preferably a porsche aircooled engine out of something like a 914. For one thing they aren't that much to get or maintain (the vw at least) the hp numbers are low but when you consider how light the car is they go pretty fast (I have a 77 beetle and I have been looking into the engines to replace mine lol). If it's a choice between that and the mini though you should definately look into the mini. I am pretty sure if you get it without the engine you can get it titled as a kit car. Check out www.1gracing.com they're bringing in the noble cars without an engine or drivetrain and by selling them seperate it's considered a kit car. Check out the pre-owned section too you might see something like you are looking for.

I don't think that getting it titled in PA will be too difficult. Especially since it would be a proper kit car, and not a grey market import.
Though, I have to question what you would drive day to day, as I don't see this, or the Vette, as being a viable daily driven car. I suppose you could keep with the altima, but it seems a shame to have 100k of cars sitting in the garage while you drive your beater 5 days a week. As far as insurance, that is a good point, I doubt you will get the cushy rate you enjoy now. Also, I think it may be hard to sell your car as is...you best bet would be to trade me straight up for mine, and we can put a stock turbo back on it...that would be an easy sell. -Cliff

Well, the vette is going to be returned to it's proper home back at my Mom's house in Washington, PA next weekend. The STI has somewhat of an unknown future as well, as I am still waiting for a damn MAF tube to get it inspected. The strait swap is a consideration, but doesn't do me much good as for getting funds to buy this.
Supraholic (Miguel), Did Z Cars mention any sort of price that they delivered the rolling chasis to MI for? Bill
