Tinting window situation

So my car, mazda 6, i want to get my windows tinted. about 35% so i dont get harrased by hte police. the problem is since im only 16 my parents have to be convinced, since its their car legally. i have saved enough money to do it and i have no problem paying for it so this is the situation. currently my family has five cars, four drivers, my car for right now is exclusively mine. my moms car goes back in two months so that means if my dad has to drive my car, becasue he doesnt want to drive his 2005 mercedes clk500 to bad neighborhoods, he has the right over me, its his car. the poblem is he wears galsses and he feels that tinting windows would hurt his vision if he had to drive it at night and since i only have the car for another year, going away to college nad wont have it for my first year, that he feels i shouldnt get it. how can i convince themt o get it. thanx

Why get it tinted if they are just gonna take it off in 2 months? I think your dad is right...and it is his car...

But it won't be yours to drive I thought? From what I can tell, if you go tint it today, it will remain tinted for 2 months until your dad drives it, and he is going to make you pay to have them removed right?

^^no we would have four cars and four drivers. my sister and her car remian at her college so we have three cars and three drivers. an bmw x3 which can be drivine anywehre, my car and then my dad 2005 mercedes clk500 which he treats better than me there fore if he has to drive to somehwere he wouldnt feel comforbatle leaving his car like a crowdidng parking lot he would take my car. he owuld elt me get it if he would want me to get it removed in two months. so i ahve3 to convince its not a harmful thing in the ngiht with less visibiliity

I have 10-ish percent on my car all the way around, and it's not that bad at night.

Seeing the parking spaces from the side is a bit of an issue, but you just roll down the window.

35% would not be bad at all.

It's much harder to see INTO the car than OUT OF the car, which is what it's meant for. That, and it helps your gas mileage since you wouldn't need the a/c as much because it helps keep in-car temps down.

Honestly?
Its your parent's car.
If they don't want you to get it tinted, and they own it, don't tint it.
Your best bet is to lay out the advantages of getting it tinted, and let them decide. Tell Mom/Dad that it's not illegal- it keeps mileage down (a good thing especially right now) -- etc.
But its not necessary. Invest in good sunglasses.

Well, the first part isn't true...

but the second part on gas mileage, it will help to keep mpg down because in-car temps would be reduced, thus reducing a/c usage, and freeing up the engine from the drag, thus being more efficeint.

Unfortuneately for me, I don't have a/c. BUT, I have noticed one thing: My car is definitely cooler inside than other dark cars without tint when both are parked in direct sunlight.

*edit* My seatbelt clips don't burn me either, and neither do half of the black components in my car. I don't have a sunshade on my window, but my steering wheel isn't 900 degrees and I can actually touch it and drive on the hottest of days.

Not really...being afraid to drive your car is pussytalk...Seems to me he can afford a BMW two Mercs and a Mazda 6. theres another car to i'm just unsure of what it is.

While the one merc is obviusy up on its lease...I see clk500's everywhere. And i'm curious as to why the Beamer can go anywhere but the Merc cant? You have nice cars but live in an area of bad neighbors? Odd

i've got 20% tint and its just the right amount to look really nice and not completely black. 35% is not that dark at all, just something to think about if you want good looking tint. i was worried about cop trouble but havent had a problem. the tint doesnt really affect u that much when your looking out, you can see just as well, its just slightly darker. and i would say to wait till after ur first year at college to get the tint, just so that your dad doesnt run into any problems if he drives it.

he just feels that the clk is very flashy, he treats that car like a person. anyway idk it just how he feels he has rarely ever driven my car but if he needs he he can to clare anything up.

I don't have any cop problems with my 10-ish percent.
