82 v8 s10 daily driven project burnt crispy :(

hey figured id post up the progress so far and as i go i haven't been on tst in forever but figured id see whats new.

the daily driver that should be on the road by monday after a super long winter having no car.
its a 1982 s10, swapped from the stock 4cyl to a 350/turbo 350 trans

mods so far
72 350ci sbc
edelbrock carb and intake manifold
mild cam
true duals 2 & 1/2in with magnaflow mufflers
b&m slap shifter
dual elec fans
american racing torq thrust 2's 15x6 & 15x7's
will be dropped 3/3 after this weekend

im sure i missed something it was just alot of basic upkeep the previous owner never did. it was parked in 02 and i bought it in oct. its 99% rust free with the inside of the drivers door being the only spot and for what i paid it was worth the 3hours each way to delaware to pick it up as most 1st gens esp in my price range at the time were rotted to hell.
the pics with the pepboys rims were as it was when it was picked up

Nice truck. My boss is planning on doing a swap like this on his ob2 s10 extreme. You do the swap yourself or buy it that way?

thanks guys! i bought the truck already swapped due to time & it was super clean/done right for the right price and being i pulled the stupid move of selling my only car to buy it(sounded like a good idea haha) i wanted something as close to done as possible. it needed all new front brakes, rear brake rebuild, tie rod ends, ball joints, fix a few leaks, etc but the previous owner had it from 94-2012 and sat for 10 years but it fired up and drove but being it was a 3 & 1/2 hour drive each way i rented a trailer from uhaul to bring it home. i got a steal on the rims and tires(100 miles old) the same day i brought it home they were too wide for the guys 63 nova i paid 300$ for them,1800$ for the truck, and got about 8-1000$ in new parts but would have been less if i didnt order the lowering kit & stuff to convert it to p/s which will be going on this weekend
id love to go ls next winter for the extra power/mpg/reliability
but next is a rear and if its gotta get narrowed anyway im gonna add mini tubs and real rubber ;)
clash if he has any questions their pretty standard across both body styles with a few minor diff.

thanks i always did myself and i 110% love it esp after the first drive around my section the other day(wont be inspected until Monday) but after the awesome feeling the non car guy part of me realized no air, insulation, etc haha should have found one with air but the body was clean besides some minor dents but no rust in the rockers or bed so i jumped on it granted it was nov when i bought it should have some better pics this week.

i got the headliner out, some interior stuff dyed, and hopefully will be dropped 3/3 by monday.
its been a long time coming i settled on something stock for awhile as i couldnt pass on the price but im a hot rodder at heart so i sold something 100% reliable, mint, practical for this

Hey, we all do stupid things every now and then. But this one just means it will be fun to beat unsuspecting honda owners with it lol.

haha it blows the bigger s10 rears were only under certain things when the $ is there im just going either narrowed 8.8 or 9in ford or might just wait and buck up on a new one from moser etc id like to do things once and not have to touch them again as the power goes up as eventually it will be going ls aiming for a 6.2l truck motor with a cam, long tubes, and intake to start for now itll be draining my wallet(id have to guess 12-14mpg if im lucky but i didnt buy it for the mileage

Since there easier to come by, I'd do the Ford 9in rear. Every car show I see on TV they always seem to go to that rear end.

their insanely strong/ton of parts for em but their deff not cheap it sucks being into stuff like this/60s cars because all the cool/desirable parts are long gone but then again try making 4-500hp and getting 25mpg 20 years ago. my dad was just telling me today his 71 el camino he had when i was little with a big block/tunnel ram with dual holleys and 4:10 gears got 2-4mpg but also gas wasnt 3+ a gallon man i wish he still had that car lol

finally got it on the road decided with the road quality around me its staying at the current height as the front already sits low with the v8 just need to get a set of hd shocks for it and once the rear tires wear out itll be getting a set of drag radials so itll fill the wheel wells out a bit better + these go up in smoke with 1/4 throttle

heres a pic from yesterday all cleaned up

well if i didnt have bad luck id have no luck. i was getting ready to run to micky d's last night i was sitting in my driveway letting it warm up i was answering a text heard a loud pop and a cloud of smoke poured out i thought the motor let go or something of that nature THANK god my dad was looking out the door and he saw the flames and got it before it took the whole truck burnt down by the time the fire dept got there it was like 90% out(the hood cable broke) basiclly the whole motor compartment is baked crispy, hood is warped and done, and under dash is crispy.
2$ cheese burger turned into a 1-2000$ cheese burger that i still never got
