Awww she's adorable! Any clue on how big she will be? I have a German Shepherd mix and this is him @ 11 months:

When she gets older they should have a play date

aww he's cute. my best friend has a german shepherd and he's huge at 12 months. i believe she'll be a big female since her parents were both pretty big, but who knows though? my last dog was a co cker spaniel so she'll def be bigger then he was.

btw what is yours mixed with?

i'm familiar with all the problems german shepherds can have. you have to be careful of certain things with all breeds. hopefully she doesn't have any problems till she's older and its expected, i rather not have to worry about that now. the one puppy my family saw, her sister, had a hernia, and he would have given her to us cheaper, but we decided just to be safe and got Lacy.

Along with that I am told of hip displacement and to get their stomachs stapled? Unsure of the reason why for that seeing if maybe you had any background info?

Health
• Major concerns: CHD, elbow dysplasia
• Minor concerns: panosteitis, vWD, progressive posterior paresis, cauda equina, pyotraumatic dermatitis, skin allergies, malignant neoplasms, pannus, cataract, gastric torsion, perianal fistulas, cardiomyopathy
• Occasionally seen: pancreatic insufficiency
• Suggested tests: hip, elbow, eye (blood)
• Life span: 10 – 12 years
• Note: GSDs are especially susceptible to a potentially fatal systemic fungal infection from Aspergillus.

I really don't think you have anything to worry about unless you see something out of the norm or notice anything. Every breed has their problems. Some of these problems just occur from inbreeding.

This is actually my first German Shephard, I'm aware of what I've seen at the vet I used to work at, which wasn't anything real serious, and little things I've read online. A guy I know just got a Golden Retriever puppy a month or two before we got Lacy and his puppy got sick and her brain pretty much fried and had to be put down after she lost all her vision and movement in her rear legs. You just have to be aware.

aww congrats meredith!!
you should bring her to show n go to walk around. haha there were soo many dogs last year!

goodluck though, and hold her while you can. i see BIG PAWS..they grow soo fast. my german shepherd is HUGE now... when she stands on her hind legs she's as tall as me.. and she's only a year.. the vet said she's still growing..
where did you get her?? the dad of my dog was one of the search and resue dogs in 911 and the mom was a drug sniffing dog... mines a longhair one . her name's abby but i call her bear.. since she's as big as one..

she likes to use her paws to hit people/shelby too...

and her at like 4 months.. kinda dark buttt

hey there. i actually won't be at show n go. i'll be working. i will be going to volksfest though and a few others this summer. works a bitch. and she loves to be held so i hold her all the time since soon enough she'll be too heavy. and my best friend has a boy and he's like a horse. i like the long haired ones, we had a long haired girl puppy that belonged to a lady i worked with when i worked at the vet and she was the cutest thing. we actually got her at an old menonite farm. sounds funny i know. they used gas lights and kids were running around in the dark everywhere, but the guy loved his german shepherds and the parents were pretty big. Lacy just likes to chase around and bite my cat right now cause my cat won't hiss at her, but she knows my mom's cat won't take any of that ****.

thanks for all the comments!

thats a cute dog, i want one.

i have given this a lot of thought and there are two ways for me to get a dog:

1) move out of my parents house. make sure i can take care of myself for a while. get a dog.

2) find girl with dog. immediately enjoy all the benefits of having a pet without any of the responsibilities.

right now option 2 would really work best for me, but its been a difficult search so far.
