i would think RTV would seal that up. Works on valve covers, i don't see why an oil pan would be any different.

You think I could just apply it around the edges? Or must I take the pan off and put it between the w pieces? I guess it would be worth a try without removing the pan first.

I'd say a big rog-o-negative on that one. The oil will probally seep from behind the mating surfaces and break any bond that the rtv will have with the metal.
If you want to give it a go, clean the hell out of with 2+2, brake clean sucks since they changed the formula...use the honda "grey"/ultra grey RTV, that stuff is the bomb diggitty. Doing it from the outside is probally just going to create a mess that will make resealing the pan rigth more of an ordeal. Just set aside some time, and take it off. Follow the torque specs to a t, and use rtv.

yea RTV is good. theres all different kinds, so just look up what your looking to do with it and you should be able to find one that resist heat and is compatible with oil.
also agree that you should take the pan off and do it. doing it on the outside will be a pita and not to mention making removing the pan again a pita

I got some RTV Silicone today, I'm gonna take the oil pan off and do it the right way...although it'll be a pain in the butt, it's the best way to go. Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how it goes.
