Wow I am being sued and might have to shut down TST, need help from a lawyer ASAP
I dont know if I should be making this public, but I dont know what to do right now and I wont be able to talk to a lawyer until monday. I got home from work like an hour ago from the newspaper and there was a letter waiting for me from this girls lawyer, Joel D. Feldman in Philadelphia... Some of you may remember her... from the 'artists' thread a while back. I dont think I really made it public knowledge but she threatened to sue me months ago if I didnt delete the thread about her. I took my chances and left the thread up because I didnt want to be censored like that. Enough time passed that I thought that blew over and havent thought about it in forever. Basically I'm scared ****less right now... I really pissed this girl off and she made a lot of threats to me. This letter I just got is demanding that TST be completely shut down no later than April 15th or else I am personally facing charges of defamation and harassment which could lead to jailtime... wtf. Does anyone know any lawyers I can talk to? I have worked really hard on the forum but I'm not about to risk my freedom over it... I dont even know what I'm typing right now or if I should be posting it online in the first place but if anyone can get me in touch with a lawyer first thing on monday... please pm, aim, or call me. I hope something works out but it doesnt sound good... Thanks, Bryan

yeah i know its probably stupid to have this posted but i dont know what the hell to do right now so hopefully somebody on tst has a lawyer friend i can talk to? argh...

If this happened in Reality, legally she would only be able to sue you for anything libelous that's posted if she emailed you and you refused to remove it. She wouldn't be able to force you to shut the entirte site down...but of course if she sued you for punitive damages, she could pu a financial hurting on you so bad you would probably have to shut the site down...
