Question Cheapest Laptop Running Windows

Im looking for a cheap laptop, pretty much just for using along with my tune I'm about to get, for diagnostic purposes.

only requirements is that is runs Windows 98SE or better.

i know i could buy used, but I've been looking at this little guy from Gateway

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+...&skuId=4684196

im a mac guy, so i've looked into running Bootcamp/paralles, but apparently that requires a windows disc and for the $100 i've found them at, id rather just drop the other 200 on a brand new laptop (call me crazy, i know) with windows already installed and would then be small enough to pop in the glove box, rather than a 15 in macbook.

anyone have any other cheap recommendations or route i could take?

I have a handful of spare used laptops I have yet to spend the time to throw some memory on them and list them for sale. However I bet by now could come across a cheap netbook on ebay or something. However $280 bucks for a netbook I think is too much. Also that Atom processor can be power lacking however usally do the job for tuning. However If you do buy a netbook and it only has 1GB of ram, upgrade it to the max it can take. DDR2 or DDR3 memory is so cheap. A handful of clients have given me there netbooks over the years complaining they are slow. After a good clean up and 2GB or 4GB ram, run a heck of alot smoother.

I can tell you this I use HP tuners on an older HP laptop with a 15" screen and I sometimes wish the screen was bigger so I could see more stuff. I don't know how people get away with tuning/logging on such small screens. But I guess they don't mind it.

ok, to be honest, I'm not super tech savvy, but i do hear you about it only having the 1GB of ram and the screen was something i over look, i figured the smaller the better, being that i would pretty much only be used in the car. as for the price, how about an extra $50 for this guy?

the software is HP Tuners VCM suite, I'm guessing thats the same as the HP tuners your talking about, when you say you sometimes wish you had a bigger screen, what would you say the minimum would be?
