Tool Boxes

I wanted to get opinions on different brands of tool boxes people use. I ain't trying to spend thousands of dollars on this thing tho. The sad part is that the 360 dollar box at harbor freight is 10x's better then any craftsman box in sears. So i was kinda looking at that thing. Wanted to see if anyone has any opnions that can be useful. Thanks in advance. And of course.... pics of your boxes would be cool. love seeing all the different designs and schemes.

so wait a second here, your looking to drop $$$ on a tool box but don't know what you want? Think **** is pretty simple, get a box that allows you to hold the current amount of tools and allows you to grow for future tools. it should open and close easily, roller bearings ftw, must lock to keep those assholes out of it that shouldn't be in it and if it's for the house you really don't need something extraordinary, just something that holds your ****.

I have an "atlas" tool chest, which is the same thing as the HF tool chest, but with a different brand on it. I got it from Greg Smith Equipment Sales in DE. Its a 40" ball bearing roller chest, 11 drawer.

Link to chest:

You'll be set with the HF tool chest, especially if you can score a 20% coupon.

Got ya. Never checked them out yet. That seems to be the same issue I have with the craftsman box.

Buy a bigger box, disperse tools over more drawes. Problem solved. I bet your over the rated max weight in the owners manual.

i have a snap on box at work, but any add ons i plan to by are gonna be from HF. the price is unbeatable. i want the hutch cabinet that goes ontop and shuts but im not sure if HF has something like that, that will fit my box and bolt onto it and lock etc. also some of HF's air tools are the same stuff that is marked with blue point. 2001teg has a few airtools ive used and compared them to their snap on and blue point counter parts and they look almost identical. just some food for thought if your planning on buying air tools to.

I have a snap on box, the thing with snap on boxes are they are heavy so if you accidentally leave a bunch of drawers open full of tools it's not likely to flip over. Also they keep their value so if you want to trade it in most likely you will get most of your money back from your local snap on guy

Snap on here. but that's because it was used for my job. Plus i got a hell of a deal on it. When i first started out as a tech, i went with the mind set of buying more tool and a cheap box first (aka, lowes box, crapsmans box, etc) and upgrade later. i told my snap on rep what i wanted to do and he actually found me a deal on a classic78 box for less then anything i could buy else-ware. after 2 or so years i grew out of space and happen to walk on the snap on truck and there was my next box along with the killer deal. couldn't pass it up and now it sits in my garage full of tools.

I also have a craftsman's box, that i will buying a bottom chest for so i can house my spare/backup tools and cheaper tools. as well as spare parts and things like that in. rather put that in a cheaper box and be able to lock up the more expensive tools in my good box.

You also have look at what your doing and what you want with your box. look for deals and look for best offers. i know snap on was just have a deal where you buy there master 78in box and they give you a hutch and stainless top for free, or something along those lines.

and you asked for photos so heres one of mine when i bought it.

I have two craftsmans. One old, one newish. Neither have ball bearing drawers. Both are pieces of ****.

Honestly, Ill probably go for a harbor freight one that has ball bearing drawers next. SO sick of dealing with trying to open a drawer, when the drawer above it is sitting on top of the drawer im trying to open. JUST GIMME MY WRENCH DAMMIT!
