need someone in ne phila/bucks county good with wiring

My headunit wont work when the car is on, only when in acc position. I believe its an issue with the ignition wire. Anyone who can take a look I applaud you, anyone who can fix it, I pay you me and techs at work can't figure it out. Thanks!

Its a 97 golf, aftermarket head unit, I even rewired the old one that was in there and now its doing the same thing, it has to be something with the ignition and the harness wiring.

was the factory harness cut out of the car? Did it have the factory monsoon system, or whatever that upgraded vw system was.

Grab a multimeter and meter the two power wires behind the radio. Start there and let us know what you find.

Nope everything in it was uncut and fine, i even bought a new radio harness just incase. And I used the multimeter yesterday, everything is getting power and is grounded. Idk about the upgraded system, it has a sub and amp but it wasnt hooked up, only wired up. Im usually good with just wiring stuff up but when the radio turns on when the ignition is engaged but shuts off when the car turns fully on. Im really over trying this I been messing with it all day yesterday and today, rewiring stuff, I would just appreciate it if someone can give me a hand haha

Yeah just for some reason, wont power the headunit. I heard that some german cars have an adapter pack? and if its bad, it could not be powerful enough to power the headunit but I only heard that from one person no one else. If I cant get help from someone closer, your shop is off of county line and easton right? I can shoot up there and see what you think and would charge. I texted Travis about it he said he would ask you, (your chris right?)

I had this type of problem installing a head unit in an impala or malibu don't remember the model, anyway, I wired it up like normal it would turn on in acc but not when turned to on. Turns out I had to run a separate wire from the ignition itself. Maybe give that a try.

that's most likely what it is. Audis, VWs, GMs don't have an ign wire behind the radio from the factory as they turn their radios on via a data signal.

Where in the NE are you located? If I can tonight when I get home from work, we can meet up and i'll take a look. Dont run wire just yet.
