We Won the Import Survival Series at Etown NOW WITH VIDEO

Our stroked Evo9 won the Heads Up AWD class yesterday on pump gas at 20psi with stock turbo.

We are also now way ahead in the points standings for the whole series.

Thanks goes out to:

Nick @ Precision Dyno Tuning for the tune.
John @ ACT for helping with our shifting problem.

We never got a clean run. Everytime I would launch hard and cut a 1.6 60 ft the ACT clutch wouldn't disengage for 2nd gear.

So our best run was me taking off like there was a cop behind me and short shifting at 6k rpms.

We managed a 12.6 @ 111mph.

With the clutch now fixed and some race gas we should go 11's pretty easily.

Please refrain from talking about Nick and PDT in this thread. It is a can of worms that needs not be opened.

Do a search on here, NASIOC.com, EVOm.net to see discussions about PDT.

Congrats on the win!

12.6 was the fastest for heads up?? I hope you put a real turbo on that stroker. That 16g has to be dieing off quick.

my cousin told me that about 3 weeks ago he saw a evo that was putting stickers on the car and the last one was a big pdt sticker, while waiting to run. He didn't get to see the car run but he did see it spitin coolant out on the way back. Needless to say the car didn't drive home. I would refrain from posting something like this but if you like your engine find a different tuner!

Nick is the best why would I need to find another tuner?

What do you know about Nick?

I'm so tired of defending PDT to people that have no experience with them, they are repeating what they hear.

I am a veteran tuner and can tell you don't believe the BS Nick has an engineers understanding of tuning.

When I was looking for a shop to tune our 9 with ecutek I asked every tuner about how the MIVEC changes Cylinder pressure, Flame front, & volumetric efficiency Nick was the only one who knew what I was talking about. All the rest gave me some BS thinking I wouldn't know the difference.

People need to think twice about bashing someones business & livelyhood based on what they have heard. This is not high school.

All this bashing started at a shop, it then spread like the plague since it seems to be in everyones nature to be the "knowledgable enthusiast" and pass on info they heard as their own.

If a business bashes its competition run the other way.

If they are the better shop they don't need to bash, they will have more business.

However if they are losing all their business to the competition because they overcharge, or maybe they can't load tune on their dynojet dyno like their competitors Mustang dyno does, or maybe even because their competition is finishing his Mechanical Engineering degree and they never attended college, Then you need to bash before everyone sees the real picture

Let's keep this thread on topic....

PDT has been discussed many times already on this forum and any further discussion should continue in old or in new PDT threads.

I have read all of those threads, I'm not going to bring up old crap, but just as an FYI when you go somewhere to dyno tune you ask all the questions and give all your info before hand. After you are satisfied that the tuner is trustworthy you hand over your keys and let him do his job. Most dyno shops don't even let the customers into the dyno room at all for a very good reason. I suggest everyone on here take the EFI tuning 101 class, it will teach you alot.

As far as the MIVEC, the only problem you would have would be the valve open duration over 3.5k RPMS, but you can tune around that with an accurate wideband.

I don't understand the VE and Flame Front statement though? The only time you have to worry about the definition of flame fronts is when you are defining a pre-ignition or detonation situation, but you don't need to analyize it, it's just what happens (Detonation is 2 flame fronts colliding). Although if you want me to outline the flame front analysis of a jet engine that would be kind of interesting. And VE? Uh, if it sucks it's at 80%-100%, if it blows, it's over 100%. Hehehe. Can I be a tuner?

Sorry, i'm being a smart ass, but those are all theory questions. Just because someone knows the answer doesn't mean they know the practical application. I don't know the whole story, but for this many people to come to a forum and bash someone, weather warrented or not, says a little something. I've seen companies blow cars up on occasion, it happens to the best of them, but for someone to have a bad enough taste in thier mouth to try and bash this guy all over the web, something had to sour the deal.

I would say, rule of thumb, unless it happened to YOU PERSONALLY, then don't say anything for or against. No one knows what really happened except for the parties involved.

I doubt you have known Nick longer than I have. I was one of his first customers in his ghetto shop in jersey. I don't need to explain the stories anymore, look on any forum but evoM and you can see for yourself( evoM doesnt like when people slander paying vendors, no matter whos right or wrong). He's a con artist, very good one at that, but eventually everyone who does business with him see's this, my main purpose is to stop people from making the same mistake as me, and about 30 or more others have. Take it for what its worth, but www.precisiondynosucks.com wasnt started for no reason.

Engineers view of tuning? He lied to me, told me he was AEM certified and AEM held him in top regards... but then I quickly learn it was all BS. He dimed off AL just to learn how to use the ECUTek software after having it a month and not even being able to tune one car, let alone his drag car that was supposed to be ECUTek equiped.

hey fuzionauto,
why did you switch to a stroker? The evo 9 just came out. You didnt have a problemw/ the stock motor did you? I dont know why you would swap a new motor into a 06 unless the 2.0 l blew.
