Unlimited graphics future for video games?
If this technology ever gets put into main stream production like this company wants. The possibilities for games could be endless.

That's pretty cool... it will be interesting to see what it looks like when they perfect the technology

Sadly it will prob never get used. Unlike polygons that tech cannot be used to animate. It has been around for along time. If you were to animate with unlimited detail then the moving parts would come out to be choppy and un-smooth.

I think they would just use it for the back ground. Apparently if I herd correctly they used a polygon converter to make the back ground. If that's the case I believe they would just use the atoms for backgrounds and stuff like that. This would in theory give the game makers more polys to use on the movable objects in the game.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how rendering atoms is any less intensive then rendering polygons. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the whole point of rendering huge blocky polygons to maintain an acceptable frame rate for players to play? Can you imagine how much processing power your computer would require to render millions of grains of dirt? I really think their is a catch to this or it's like saying...."Someday we'll colonize the moon! We already built shoes that simulate earth's gravity!"
