Call me crazy but I traded my 6.2L 8 for a 2.0T 4

After much thought I decided to move on from the Corvette into something more upscale and incidentally a LOT less powerful- a 2011 Audi TT coupe. Oddly enough- I'm perfectly content. Granted I loved the Vette and it offered blazing acceleration and performance. However, to be honest, what made it great is part of the reason I rarely drove it. It was rough, loud, in terms of ride quality very harsh. For that reason when I had to go anywhere I always seemed to grab the keys to my Scion Xb, lol. In other words unless I was driving fast it wasn't as fun.

The Audi in comparison to the Vette is obviously extremely anemic on power. Especially considering I opted for the TT (base) as opposed to the 8k more expensive TTS or 15k more expensive TT-RS (which is an amazing car btw) however I didn't want close to a 60k car payment. According to my research the TT base is in many ways a better buy than the TTS. Plus I plan on modding it- Either APR or STaSIS tune to start out.

This goes without saying but, while I never personally had a problem with the Vette interior, after driving the Audi I didn't know what I was missing. Night and day isn't an apt enough description. I'm very impressed with the fit, finish, materials, and interior of the Audi. For the same price I could have gotten a 135i which would offer more performance than the TT. However I'm more fond of the Audi looks in general vs BMW. So maybe I'm becoming MORE superficial with age rather than the opposite. lol

Anyway I just wanted to share this all with you guys. PS This is the first ever German car I've ever owned (that is if you don't count the SRT6). Are there any TT guys on here?

Parts for it are cheaper than the Vette. There's the infamous "Corvette" tax that is added to anything having to do with that car. Sticker on it was $42.8, but that's not what I paid. Base with no options they are 38'ish. Mine has upgraded leather interior, nav, & heated seats. My friend is a salesperson so I didn't lose any money on the trade either- they gave me the same money I paid for the car a year ago, which is a huge plus.

Stock it's nothing to write home about 0-60 in 5.1 with the aid of launch control on the S-tronic tranny. However with APR StageIII it'll have more power/tq than the TT-RS which hits 60 in 3.6.

The Vette was cheaper then my GTO for parts... figure that LOL

You will like the TT for awhile but you will miss the rawness of the Vette... atleast that what I'm learning now.

Nice pick up. Do you have a daily? If not I think its a good move, vettes can be a little annoying as a daily. As a weekend car, you can't beat the v8 imo.

i hope you really enjoy it though in all honesty, because its your car and not mine.

that said, i could never justify paying over 40k for a 2.0l turbo

Nice pick up but BMW 335 coupe would be better platform if you're planning to mod

plenty of aftermarket bolt ons to keep you happy but i still miss the sound of my old v8 on summer nights after i bought my 2.0t gti.
APR, AWE, and Unitronic all make excellent software for these cars. AWE's stock motor k04 turbo mk6 went into the 11's with a bolt on turbo kit and slicks.

As much as i dont like APR, they make excellent tunes for the 2.0t. Solid engine. Good luck with mods

I'd agree if the money was ONLY buying an engine...

What don't you like about APR? I'm trying to research Tuning options. So far I found APR, APT, and StASIS.

Thank you. PS What's your suggestion for where to go for aftermarket work (ie DP, tune, etc)?

The price definitely would've kept me from a car like that. I didn't realize base TT's were going for that much these days. Either way, it's a nice looking car and I'm sure it's a more comfortable daily. Good luck with it!

Love the styling of the TT. I also love the vette, but I see where your going and can't call you crazy.

Why not check out AWE in Willow Grove?
