Intakes?

Hey there TST community!

So the thought of upgrading the intake on my 07 Si hit... and of course I, like most others, spent countless hours looking at all of the different companies websites, looking at what seems to be some BS, HP gains. The biggest question that i have for everyone is .. CAI or SRI? .. second to that, why cant anyone make a CAI that doesnt require someone CHOPPING THEIR WHEEL WELL?! So i guess the questions i have for anyone that wants to respond...

1.) CAI or SRI
2.) What do you have on your personal vehicle **CAI or SRI**
3.) What brand should I go with
4.) Problems you have faced with your CAI or SRI

THANKS GUYS!

1. SRI
2. my cav had a cai that required no chopping of any kind and it was made by AEM. now both my prelude and civic have SRI
3. AEM is a great brand
4.SRI is 1000x easier to replace the filter the CAI. i have personally never had a problem with either

o and if you pick up an AEM replace the filter with a K&N. its a tiny difference but in cars with a tiny amount of hp to begin with its more noticeable IMO

Thank you .. Yeah i have been bouncing back and forth the ideas, but for every CAI for the Si, they all state in the directions, to cut a 1 1/2 - 3 inch hole in the wheel well to keep the tube from rubbing through agianst the wheel well. Was looking at the K&N Typhoon SRI .. they call it a CAI, but its a ram air .. that hooks up to the stock intake pipe from down low, and uses a what seems to be usless heat sheild .. but seems good.

Scott, you run into any heatsoak issues during summer / hot weather?

ya a little bit in the prelude the humidity is what gets me. not super noticeable though. but i cant really tell in the civic cause its a POS. my cav never had that problem with both the SRI and the CAI i had on it. you wont see very much difference at all in hp gain though. well not enough difference to care about that is. i dont see how you would have much problem with heat soak with either intakes. i still say SRI because you also dont have to worry about water and weather issues and 99% of the time heat soak doesnt apply lol.

The only thing I always hear about with cai is the filters getting soaked in the rain.

Other than that it's just more piping if you ask me lol. Cai will gain you more power if I'm not mistaken, but a Sri will give you better throttle response and more torque
