Talking Video's @ Cecil: My Trans Am vs. Camaro SS & BMW 745

So all my prior cars that I have tracked have been auto's. Easy as heck to do a burnout in them of course. Different story in a manual I found out. I can do burnouts fine away from the track, but it seems the traction at the track kills me with doing burnouts there. I'll just try sitting in the water box next time I guess? This was down at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, MD on Friday. I've never seen so few cars there in my life. It was like we rented out the track. You could basically run as many times as you wanted to. Temps in the high 80's with 55%+ humidity and threat of t-storms kept people away. My alternator decided to go so I was running on battery power for most of the runs.

I ran everything from an LS1 powered AMX (running 12.0's all night long), to a BMW, 1st Gen Camaro SS, 5th Gen Camaro SS, and more.

This is my buddy/co-worker's 5th Gen SS with my TA behind it (Crappy cell shot):


First race is against a 2nd Gen Camaro Z28 (I ran a 13.6@105 and the Z ran a 14.0@101):

lil slower then normal but on the right track for a manual. my 02 convertible went 13.2 at 109 with just k&n air filter with a 2.1 60'

Thanks guys. I'm getting a tune done in West Chester in a week or two. After that the only mod I may do is swap the Flowmaster muffler to something else. It sounds great but I know it can sound better. Might grab an LS6 intake manifold and port/polish it. And may do a different cam, but the 98 cams are pretty decent from the factory. Some plugs and wires would be nice too as I am not sure when they were last changed.

My Auto LT1 Z28 with SLP Loudmouth cat-back, 3.73's, Auburn Posi (worked when it felt like working), K&N FIPK ran this at Cecil last time on street tires:

60 foot time: 2.046
1/8 Mile ET: 8.691
1/8 Mile MPH: 81.05
1/4 Mile ET: 13.475
1/4 Mile MPH: 103.75

It was much cooler then (50's) and far less humidity, so I am sure that was a contributing factory as is the auto trans.

ahhh ur 98. makes a lil more sense now to. i love my borla catback personally. please just do not get loudmouth. ls6 intake will help some as well. u can easily get to my times nice car man. i miss mine sometimes.

Yes, unfortunately all the damn 99-02 cars I was finding were non-ram air and/or auto cars. I didn't want another auto F-body, no matter how fast it was. Can't wait to get some more mods and get back to Cecil with cooler temps!

Negative, still on there. Still debating removal as I am not sure how long they have been there. If I remove 'em I may have darker black ghost stripes due to UV fading on the exposed paint .. hah.

More like mid to low 13s stock, better with better drivers...
That first clip & slip he lists as an SS is actually a 2nd gen. Z/28. (a bit confusing considering he shows a pic of my car and lists the 2nd gen. races as an SS)
