Recomendations for getting AC Fix for the mom!
I added in two cans of the stop leak stuff which lasted like a week or so but now its not working again. I inspected as much of the AC lines/parts as I could but couldn't see any leaks. However I don't have a UV light to see for leaks better. Most likely going to have to take it someplace to get fixed but I wanted to throw the offer out to anyone on here if they could fix it or tell me a place that isn't going to run her to the ground for costs. Being the car only has 60K I sure hope she doesn't have to replace anything like the compressor or anything major on the AC system. Does anyone know if the valves where you fill the AC Freon up can be tightened up like the valves inside a valve stem on a tire? I have a tool to tighten the valve on tires, but its not long enough for the AC fittings. Either that or does someone have the tools to test for UV leaks?

If you were closer I would be able to help since I do havc. I would try and get a hold of a electronic leak detector first(sniffed) to try and locate the problem. So why do you think it is out of refrigerant? Is it not running cold, is the compressor cycling, or something else.

A/c can be a real pain to find leaks sometimes. I would take it to the DEALER and have them diagnose it. When they call you ask for a list of parts needed for the fix and tell them you will be back to have it fixed or whatever. Then just fix it yourself. It will cost you about $80 bucks in diag. but will save you the headache of doing it yourself!
