Knock-off Blow off valves

I have two issues with these thats making me wander if i should buy one so i figured this was the best place to ask about them. i've been on saab central for a while and explained to them how my spring is bad on my bpv so they told me i need either a new blow off/or bypass valve. so i'm not trying to spend a lot of money and i like the way it sounds now with the stock bpv but im losing potential boost. so heres my 2 questions

1. most importantly, does a knock-off bov work ok?
2. is it rice to buy a knock-off blow off vavle?

heres the one i'm thinking about buying

I have an OEM one from my STI lying around, you are welcome to it if you want one, but it has a flange on it.

ok i just bought a knock off literally 3 seconds ago, go ahead and let the flaming begin but it was 26 bucks from ebay and i really dont see a diffrence between the real one and the knock-off except for a name...and for 26 dollars even if it doesnt work or something i wont be too hurt. and its not like its that ricey...i mean my car IS a turbo and its not like i bought a fake turbo noise thing to clamp onto my exhaust...i think it'll be fine

You gotta watch though, the knock off's may leak boost which you don't want. I wouldn't worry about ricey or things of that sort, the number 1 priority should be drivibilty and how the car runs.

well my stock one is leaking boost thats why im getting a new one...so either way if it leaks boost the only difference is 26 bucks. but i was also offered a stock bpv with 15k on it from someone on saabcentral for 10$ so thats backup plan.

I say find some place to test it first. Pressurize it to maybe 15-20psi and see if it leaks and then put vac to the nipple and see if it discharges.

Just be careful I just got done reading an article comparing fakers to the real thing and they where finding things like weak diaghrams, springs, seals and they corroded much faster.

yeah the reason you dont SEE a reason is cause the spring is on the inside of that peice of aluminum you just bought and 9 times out of 10 that spring is going to be weaker then the spring in your stock one. Man you got alot to learn if you think just cause it looks the same it basically is the same. Thats like saying my old car is an evo because its based off the lancer frame and looks the same when it really is not

perfect example of "you get what you paid for"

to be perfectly honest with you, the OEM Saab BOV i'm sure would have been more than sufficient until the time came when you saved up enough cash to either A) buy a brand new BOV or B) buy a used BOV

are you on any of the Saab forums? i know those guys can be pretty hardcore about performance and what not, i'm sure you could learn a ton about your car on there......you should find out how well your car runs with an atmospheric BOV (what you just bought) since it came with a recirculating BOV originally

Late,
Daniel

Late,
Daniel

yea i'm on the saabcentral forum and a few of those guys have the knock-off i bought and say it works fine. its only temporary anyway so i'm not worried. and most of them are running the stock bpv atmospheric now. I'm most likely getting a forge bov soon so i'm not worried about the knock-off too much. just figured i'd give it a shot. i'll have it gone in a week or so. then i'll go sell it on some forum full of rice.

its not like i bought the thing as a permanent replacement. it wont even be on long enough for the spring to go bad. i was bored and figured i'd try it out just for the hell of it. i'll get over it even if they send me a piece of plastic that says turboxs with a sharpie marker. i have a few people that want to sell me blow off valves right now anyway including my brother so it shouldnt be very long til i have a new one.
