it depends on the police department. Some cars have cameras, and some dont. Some cameras are activated to automatically come on when the overhead lights come one. Some have a switch that you flip when u want the camera to turn on. Is this what you are talking about.

I can't really go into detail yet but I do know the car had an MVR and I was wondering if it is a state wide thing (I know it is with Troopers just not sure about local) that during stops if the vehicle has one it must be used.

im not sure about the whole "must be used" Both departments i have worked for never had cameras in cars, so i never used one before. So im not real sure.
